Does anyone know how to bring a family member fast for a medical emergency? My father-in-law was diagnosed with cancer, and I spoke with my doctor who is also a close friend and he says he could treat him, and would do it for free as he is my friend. I am afraid without being able do do something quickly he will not get the best of treatment in Ukraine as he is a pensioner and they do not receive the best of treatment. So I would like to bring he and my mother -in -law here to the US to live and get treatment for his cancer.

All good things come to those who wait. Our lifes have been happier as each day goes by, and our love grows stronger each day.

Unfortunately your wife will be the one able to file for her father ONLY if she is a US citizen. Based on your timeline it looks like she still has another year to go before she can qualify for citizenship.

They can try for a visitor visa based on medical illness.

It is not easy to get; you have to prove two vital points to the officer.

*The treatment is not available to the patient in home country.

*The patient will not become a public charge in US ; in other words, documentation on the estimate of expense and how the patient will meet that expense. (letters from docs, hospitals in US)

Also refer to the US embassy in ukraine website for specific documents required for medical treatment.

Thank you all for your advice. Since my last posting he was taken to the hospital with a heart attack, so I guess travel now would mot be advised.
