Have you followed the tips on the April 2019 NOA2 -----> NVC thread?  First post has tips and I believe there are TWO ways of contacting NVC. Also, cases going from USCIS to NVC are taking about 30 days and then another 2 weeks to supply the case number. You are wayyyy to early in my opinion.

There isn't any reason to worry. There is a process and they will communicate with you when their are updates like, RFE's and approvals. Calling is not going to get much information and will NOT move your case forward any faster. I've told many "trust the process".

I ended up getting a hold of them over the phone, and they told me that they have not yet received our case. We thought that was unusually slow, so that there might be something wrong with our case. I suppose it's good to hear that it's not out of the ordinary 😊

Typically they won't tell you something is wrong with your case. They may tell you that you have a pending RFE but we have seen that said before and the case goes onto approval without a issuance of a RFE. Knowing that, you really can't do anything BUT worry and then in the end it was nothing. You're just setting yourself up for defeat at this stage. Let the process play out.

If you check the ceac processing times (google for link) you will see how long it is taking to adjudicate the cases. Also, others here are letting you know when their cases are approved so you can judge a little from their timeline. There is no science to this process but from experience if you let the process work you'll not be disappointed. In the end they only promised an answer and that is what you'll get but it will be on their time and not yours. JMHO.

Alrite! Just so I haven't grossly misunderstood the process: there's nothing I can do at this point right? I have seen people talking about sending stuff to the NVC, but I think that was for different visas. If I am understanding everything correctly it seems as if it's a waiting game at this point (besides from preparing documents for the interview). That there is no action to be taken until I receive my Packet from the embassy in the mail?

Pretty much. Read through the links I am giving you for the P3 and medical and see if calling NVC to get your number early will pay off. If not, then sit back and trust the process.

First link Embassy instructions and second is medical instructions.

This has been a discussion that many have had. Currently, it's like the sheep are following the sheep. The deciding factor to whether you call or not is, in my opinion, whether you can use the case number to "jump start" the process in the beneficiary's country (embassy). So if all you need is the case number to get the medical finished and scheduling your interview with NO requirements from your embassy then yes call. If NO then it's a waste of time.

For instance; China requires you to wait till they send you the P3 which in turn you have to return back the documents asked for in the P3 before they will set your interview date. You don't set the interview date. There is no speeding up the process so having the case number is of no value in China.

Canada works similar to China - You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards. (straight quote from a recent VJ'r.)

For Poland I understood, the medical exam can be done only after receiving the case number from NVC, but no need to wait for the documents to reach the embassy/consulate. So you can get your case number from NVC by phone and get a head start. Here is what you will need as this is the P3 letter for Poland.

Everything needed for Poland is in this PDF.

What is the Philippines embassy's stance on this matter? Is there anything that can be done with the case number (SLEC med exam, interview) regardless of whether or not the embassy has received the documents yet? Thought I'd ask you Greenbaum since it's the country indicated on your account. Thanks!

Yes there are things that can be done prior to the interview with the case number. Follow this link as it is a good primer (Hank's website) to help you along. Also, if you have questions head on over to the sub-forum for the Philippines. Links are below.

Also, there is a sub-forum for the Philippines here on VJ that you should be a part of. It's a good place to read what others are experiencing which will only prepare you for your interview.
