Hi guys, I'm currently filling out my DS-160. At the part where it asks for mother and father's names, are they asking for mother's maiden name or married name?

Also, if anyone can point me towards a thread that is Philippines-specific regarding DS-160, I would appreciate it very much. (I ask because of the local relevance of middle names here, and they are not the "given names" that the DS-160 asks. My instinct says leave them out and stick with just the first name/s. But then again I might be omitting something relevant if I do. I'm not sure.)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! 😁

The naming work around can be Mary Sue (Jones) Smith where the maiden name is in parentheses. Since they didn't ask for a maiden name I would recommend not using it and use her married name.

If you have a question concerning something that corresponds to the PI you can ask in the subforum for the PI. Just create your inquiry as a new question.  I believe you have that link for the subforum.

Hi! We got approved on April 10th, but we still haven't heard from NVC. My fiancé tried calling them multiple times, but it's impossible to get through. We also tried DOS and the Embassy here in Sweden, but they can't tell us anything. Is there any other way to find out if they've received it or sent it? I tried filling out an online contact form for NVC, but that's going to take about a week. I hate to be impatient, but we are so excited about our fast approval and now we are back to being in the dark. Is anyone else experiencing problems with NVC? Will the USCIS page update any further, pas "My case was approved"?

Also: Super exciting to hear about all of these fast approvals! January 2019 filers are on fire!!

I haven't heard from NVC either, and still there is an information on USCIS "case received". So maybe there is no reason to worry about that 🙂

That depends on how patient you are 😉 it's totally up to you

I have one question, maybe sounds stupid but still... is that possible your case would be adjudicated and on the USCIS website still indicates "case was received" ?

Yes. Sometimes you'll never get an update. That depends on the officer working on your case and if they hit the update button or not

This has been a discussion that many have had. Currently, it's like the sheep are following the sheep. The deciding factor to whether you call or not is, in my opinion, whether you can use the case number to "jump start" the process in the beneficiary's country (embassy). So if all you need is the case number to get the medical finished and scheduling your interview with NO requirements from your embassy then yes call. If NO then it's a waste of time.

For instance; China requires you to wait till they send you the P3 which in turn you have to return back the documents asked for in the P3 before they will set your interview date. You don't set the interview date. There is no speeding up the process so having the case number is of no value in China.

Canada works similar to China - You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards. (straight quote from a recent VJ'r.)

For Poland I understood, the medical exam can be done only after receiving the case number from NVC, but no need to wait for the documents to reach the embassy/consulate. So you can get your case number from NVC by phone and get a head start. Here is what you will need as this is the P3 letter for Poland.

Everything needed for Poland is in this PDF.

See my post above. Yes it's can be totally up to them, but some embassies it's a waste of time because some will not allow you to get ahead as they have instituted control measures. JMHO

Have you followed the tips on the April 2019 NOA2 -----> NVC thread?  First post has tips and I believe there are TWO ways of contacting NVC. Also, cases going from USCIS to NVC are taking about 30 days and then another 2 weeks to supply the case number. You are wayyyy to early in my opinion.

There isn't any reason to worry. There is a process and they will communicate with you when their are updates like, RFE's and approvals. Calling is not going to get much information and will NOT move your case forward any faster. I've told many "trust the process".
