I have a question regarding question #28 on form DS-230.

28. Full Name in Native Alphabet (If Roman letters not used)

Ok, I would answer this N/A because spanish uses Roman letters.

However VJ example form answered this question NONE instead of N/A. Am I right or is VJ example form right?? Here is the link http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-DS-230.pdf

My first guess... N/A would be more correct. Because it is just not applicable to you.

Answering NONE would be more appropriate in a question asking for an amount. Like... List the jobs you have had in the past 49 years: NONE. Another example... how many children do you have? NONE

Imagine none as if nothing.. and not applicable as it is just not capable of being applied.

Can someone run this by VJ?? As it seems it is a mistake on here. Hopefully we can catch any other errors before we send out forms.

The confusion that you are experiencing is a good illustration of why N/A should not be used even when appropriate. Better to write why the question is N/A. In this case something like 'Native language, Spanish, uses the Roman alphabet' explains clearly and eliminates any confusion, yes?

Good point. Thanks now I have to print out a new DS230...j/k. Very good point. I will be writing that in now.
