Almost everything is ready for our engagement party, which will take place on june the 30th. The invitations have already been ordered. The catering company and menu already picked out. There was one last detail to sort out: choosing the engagement ring.

(suspense music plays in the background...)

Justin wanted to surprise me, and claimed "total reign" on the choice of engagement ring, while I would pick the wedding rings. Knowing my favorite stones and choice of gold color, he ventured into the vast world of...internet shopping.

Little did he know of the endless posibilities the world of women's jewerly has to offer! growing impatient, he started to request for more information on my preferences...realizing my taste was far from regular, as I had already anticipated to him...he had no choice but to surrender, and we chose the ring together last night

And we will live happily ever after :P (as long as get our visa approved!)

Anyone want to share their stories on picking out the rings? :)

Saludos,

Caro

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

My fiancee' told me that it didn't matter what kind of ring she got. As long as my heart came along with it, the most inexpensive ring would be meaningful to her. That's why I fell in love with her! But I didn't hit up a gumball machine and place a quarter in it to test her statement! :D

I told him the same thing!

I still appreciate that he put a lot of time and effort into finding something special for me

Anyways...That wasn't the point of this thread

the point was to share stories about choosing the rings, if anyone would like to participate

I guess I left that part out. The ring I chose for my fiancee' was a team effort on the part of me and my 3 daughters. My fiancee' loves it and wears it exclusively. I take that we did good on our choice! Especially, since we had no idea what she would like because she would not give me a clue! She was embarrassed that I even asked what she would like! ;)

We decided to shop around for my ring while i am on vacation in Israel. Israel has a LOT of jewelry stores but the first day when i came in we went outside to buy me a calling card to call my parents and we passed by one jewelry store. (Everyone told us that it's better to buy gold from Israel because this is where the gold and diamonds are coming from to USA) They had a ring EXACTLY what i had in my mind that i liked and i knew that no matter how many stores we will shop around we will come back to this store. After a week of looking we did come back to that store. I also chose a matching wedding band. Those 2 rings are my dream!!!

And we already got him a gorgeous wedding band..........all we need is to get our visa approved

I'll admit it...I wanted a nice ring. I didn't have to tell him, cos he knows me.

He called my parents and asked for their blessing to ask me. Then he asked my father for advice...my dad hooked him up with our long time family jeweler, they did the digi pics, David picked one...wired the money, and my dad drove down to Boca Raton to pick it up!!! See if any of you knew my dad, you'd be totally amazed at how far out of his way he went, cos with my dad it's very much 'my way or the highway'. He's a wonderful man and one of my best friends, but he wouldn't cross the street if he didn't like ya.

And to drive like 300+ miles to pick it up...shows how much he regards my fiance. I love that part of the story cos we really are one big family.

Anyways, David flew in and asked me during Thanksgiving dinner. Some reason, we've only missed like 1 of the past 7 Thanksgivings together, and it's kind of our 'day'. It was a total suprise and oh so cool...and what a ring! yoweee!

Well... still don't know what the ring looks like, but not worried because as stated by others I know that he has picked something beautiful for me and I will love it. Plus I never wanted a fancy ring just something to symbolize our union together. I would be fine with something simple and plain, which I know he has picked because he knows me. He actually asked me about a few things, but I just told him gold is fine and nothing too fancy. So he has it in Cuba with him and will bring it here. Even though we are already engaged, it will be a surprise when he actually gives it to me. All I know is that it will be lovely because he put his heart into picking it out just for me.

My hubby chose mine all my himself, I had no idea he was going to propose,

I love my engagement ring because of the very reason it was something he chose all by himself

I know that not many people would think the same way as me, but i think that chosing the ring together takes the personal touch away from the proposal

My husband asked his mother for her mothers diamond (she'd been keeping it for just that occasion), which had been reset into a necklace. He and I went together to choose a mounting, although I think he would likely have chosen the same kind of thing as I did had he gone on his own.

I told hubby much the same... As long as you put thought and heart into it I will love it.. Nothing BLING BLING.. (I had given him a Caret weight aprox), yellow gold, solitaire etc...

He searched for MONTHS for my ring.. everywhere, internet, stores, Canada US, you name it.. He had an idea in his head and then went looking for it.

MONTHS went by.. all the time, people knowing we were engaged (going through the K-1 Process), and me with no ring.. There were CONSTANT questions that drove me nuts.. and then finally, when he came to visit at Christmas... He pulls out a BEAUTIFUL solitaire with the diamond in the shape of a heart, and proposes to me in front of my ENTIRE immediate family. He wanted them to see the level of devotion and love he had for me first hand.. It was a beautiful night, and I cried, my mother cried, my sis in law cried.. :) It was JUST the way I would have done it myself..

Guys are GOOD at the romance stuff. :)
