I have never heard of a case number being rejected.  To the best of my knowledge they give you the case number then ship the packet to your consulate (US Embassy in Manila)

If you got the email from NVC with the case number then you can use that at St Lukes.  You will not be allowed to do the medical with the MNL number alone.

Have you received the email from NVC yet stationed your approved petition is being forwarded to the consulate in Manila?

The email just states the MNL number receipt and USEM it doesn’t say anything about approval yet?

Agreed! That's what I had in mind too all along so when I called USCIS on Wednesday and they were like No... your official approval is on the 28th... I was like Say it ain't so! 😫 but in all fairness, they are as reliable as a knife in a gun fight so I'm gonna go ahead and stick with the 25th as my NOA2 lol 😝

Yea, seeing as how when you go to AoS they request the printed NOA2, not a printout of the website, I'd say that speaks for itself.

You're a better man than me..........I'm still breathing a sigh of relief over the NVC case, and you're already focusing on AOS.

Speaking of that AOS, I could be way off on this, but my thought on is that it's expensive and more bureaucracy, but at least at that point he/she is already in the US so the sense of urgency decreases exponentially.    I have not read squat on it, so that's purely conjecture on my part.  I did read a bit about people saying changing name is a hassle if done prior to AOS.  Personally, I'm thinking name change after blue passport issued.   Not high on my list of priorities, and well below "ease of processing stuff".

i have read all sorts of stuff too, but i have seen a lot of people saying get the SSN before marriage, then change the name after the marriage while you wait for EAD/AoS stuff because sometimes SSA wont give you a SSN until you have GC which can take months, but you need the SSN for things like bank accounts etc

I think this is the route we are gonna go, get her social security card as soon as she gets here, get married, then change the name on the card then add her to my accounts for AoS

RoC sent 10/30/21

NOA 11/16/21

Check Cashed 11/18/21

I think this is accepted as the "proper" way to do things. Seems like it would make more sense, at least for those doing "courtroom marriages", to just knock out the marriage/name change and then do the card, but for some reason it's always advised to get the card first.

1. Once a case# is given has there been an issue where it was rejected (since NVC does a background check) or they only give out the case number once it’s ok and ready to ship out to the USEM

Im sure its happened to someone but usually because they have another petition that is still active for someone else. Otherwise yes they will forward it within 2-3 weeks.

2. My fiancé finished his contract in Dubai and will be going him next week! Would it be best to get his medical done already since we have the MNL# or those have an expiration date and better off to be done once it’s in transit to the Philippines? (I ask this because his police clearance there has an expiration date)

Police clearances are good for 1 year for the K1, regardless of what it says on the paper. For example a Kuwait "good conduct certificate" states 3 months validity on the paper but the consulate honors it for 1 year.

Medical date determines the visa expiration (usually) which is 6 months from the exam.  So, u dont want to do it too early and burn your time waiting for an interview. I would recommend at least waiting until CEAC says in-transit.

So I did like you did, scanned my photo and eventually when uploading it looked good! But now I have another problem, I can't continue reviewing my application because I have this error. When I upload a photo it passes their criteria and the file size is good, it even shows it. But my next steps are blocked and when I relogin I get this :D Do you know how to fix it?

This happened to me a few times but I logged out and back in and pressed to go back and review another part of the form then reuploaded the photo and continued and it worked. You’ve probably worked it out by now though. Sorry for the slow reply!

Already have the interview booked but I received the “Packet 3” letter of instructions from the London Embassy today which is 8 days after them receiving my case. All it contains is a link to their site, case number and visa category.  Oh and my town and postcode were misspelt 🙃

The link we are all familiar with by now: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/the-interview/

Why am I getting errors in DS-160. I'm trying to retrieve my ds-160 to continue filling out other details, suddenly I can't seem to retrieve it. I fill in the correct application id and the first 5 letter of my surname and my birth year, it prompts that the first 5 letter and year doesn't match... how come? Please anyone help. Does anyone experience this kind of error in ds-160?

had a horrible time with the DS-160.   Could not log on for about 4 hours one day.  Dropped her educational information another time, but we got it back.   Dropped my state and zip code, and never could enter that back.   Wrote to embassy about state and zip and they said "as long as you can enter it and go past that page, it's ok.  Just send us a note with your packet 3 regarding the problem."    So yeah, problems...........you could either wait and try logging on later, or start a new application.    I think it's best to look at a sample of what they are requesting, and make sure you have all information so you can clear the application in one pass.

I would highly recommend that you become a member of the sub-forum for the Philippines. There are "experts" there that can answer every question you have with confidence. None of this "I think" answers. But your free to move about the cabin...:D

Give a few hours and log back on using a different browsers. IE and Safari seem to be troublesome.
