Is case number from NVC needed to fill out the DS-160 ? I read that you need it, and I also read that it's not needed..so I'm confused.

My fiance and I have already started to fill it out, and I'm pretty sure it asked for some type of number, and we put in our WAC #.

Also, the ustraveldocs website says that all I need to pay the visa fee is something that I have to download online and bring to the bank. Is that all that's needed ? I don't need my DS-160 confirmation page ? Or is that only needed for interview ?

Can I finish the DS-160 and pay visa fee now, before I get my NVC # ?

The WAC number and the NVC number are entirely different. You need the number issued by the NVC in order to check the status at the CEAC website.

I too have tried the CEAC website with the WAC number before hahahaha

Where can I find the NVC number?

You either wait until NVC mails you, sends you an email or you can call and provide them your USCIS receipt number and if the case is in the system they will give it to you.

I'm hoping to be a part of that Feb 5/6 shipment date.

Quick question. I know the phone lines are open till Midnight EST. Are they actually processing applications during this time as well?

Doubt it.

Phone lines are manned by contract staff who pull up the same information you can see if you check your case status.

Tier 2 not  available outside normal day hours and you never actually talk to a person who is the one processing yours or anyone’s application

Hey guys! I just got my NOA2 in the mail today, and it the notice date was January 25th. Just was wondering when I should start calling NVC? Also, once NVC assigns us a case number does that mean i can start having my fiancé fill out his DS-160 and scheduling or not yet? Sorry if these questions are repetitive! Just a little confused on the timeline here.

I think the question was regarding NVC , not USCIS.

I spoke with a person at NVC at 7:45 EST and she said someone was actually inputting my case # as we spoke... so, someone is doing something, even at that time.

You can start calling NVC around 8 February.  To the best of my knowledge you can fill out the DS-160 now and just put it to the side.

Congrats man, I'm hoping mine gets in either tonight at midnight or next week. I can't wait any longer xD. Did you have to jump through any loops by calling the 0888 number? The recording says that is for non immigrant visas and the information they mention that you are suppose to have in hand differs quite a bit.
