my fiance called nvc today. our noa2 is january 12. and nvc said they dont have yet the case number so we have to wait until febuary 24. or 6 weeks after the date of noa2. if we didint received the nvc case number between febuary 24 we have to call them again.. nvc said we must wait until febuary 24 to call them again.

should we just wait until feb 24? (if we didnt received the case number before feb 24) or we should call nvc again?

I know I plan to call daily.  I'm going to call at exactly 7am (8pm Philippine time)  so I won't be on hold for a long time.

Don't wait until Feb 24. 6 weeks is their standard "Do not bug us" answer. Depending on how much free time you have I would call every other day. It took 17 days for me after NOA2.

Hey guys, I'm new here!

I received an i-797, stating that my i-129f has been approved! I'm unsure what to do from here. Any/all help will be immensely appreciated!!!

I read while skimming the 33 pages on this forum, that my fiancee in Indonesia will be sent a "Packet 3". I looked up what that entails and this was the list I got:
https://www.usavisanow.com/k-1-fiance-visa/k-1-fiance-visa-faq/packet-3/

I'll list the requirements for my own checklist and ask questions as they come to me:
1. She must have a passport valid for 6 months beyond intended stay - I assume she can get to work on this now, rather than waiting for the Packet 3?
2. Birth Certificate - this is straight forward; however, I heard there are specific places the translations for documents must be done. Is that written in the Packet 3, or can she get those translated now as well?
3. Divorce/Death Certificates for previous spouses - neither of us have ever been married. Is it ok to bring nothing to the interview in this regard, or will she need proof that it isn't applicable?
4. Police Certificate for all places lived since age 16 - I have *no idea* what that means. What is that and where would she get it?
5. Medical Examination - again, should she do this now or wait until the packet? It seems so vague to me... what exactly does one ask for when they go to the doctor? Are there specifics to be examined? Can she see any doctor/hospital for this?
6. Evidence of financial support - I'm about to begin filling out the i-134. I will need my mother to co-sponsor; however, I've heard from some sources that my mother must fill out the i-864, and others say she and I must both fill out the i-134 (no i-864). Another question about this: Is my fiancee supposed to take the original i-134s, or am I supposed to send it to some agency and give my fiancee a copy to bring to her interview?
7. Two nonimmigrant visa applications (DS-156) - I've not yet heard of this. Is this another form for me to fill out or the first form for her to fill out. Can she/I start that now or should she wait until getting the packet?
8. One  nonimmigrant fiance application (DS-156k) - Same questions as for number 7.
9. Two nonimmigrant visa photos - Would these be of me or her or both of us? Sorry if this is extremely rudimentary.
10. Evidence of fiance relationship - I take it this would be all the same evidence sent in to get the i-129f approved?
11. A check - no questions here. I'm sure if the amount changed, that would be in the Packet 3.

Again - I'll be eternally grateful for any help/advice regarding what my fiancee and myself should begin working on now.

I'm curious that since all of our petitions are approved at one location and the approved petitions all go to the NVC, why do some petitions arrive before others?  Maybe @Greenbaum can shed some light on this.

The luck of the draw. Let's say you have 20 stacks of documents each stack 10 case high. Your job is to send them to NVC. So you devise a plan and you grab the first stack and prepare the package. Then the next. So on and so forth till your job is complete. It was not your job to put all the files in date order and then count ten and prepare the stack. Just get them packed and out the door. That basically how it works. I'm not joking.

Thank you for that insight.  Another question:  I was looking at a site called visa tutor and I was reading there that there are more background checks done at the NVC.  Is this true?

If so, don't over think it. Our case spent just 1 week at NVC. They have probably checked whatever they needed before

Do not wait that long to call them. It’s been 17 days so they might have it soon. The 6 weeks thing is always their standard response. I would call every couple days to check.

There are background checks at USCIS.

As part of its benefits adjudication process and as required by law, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducts background checks on petitioners and applicants who seek certain immigration benefits. These background checks consist of four separate checks against systems within Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In order to facilitate the collection and transmission of information necessary to complete background check processes, USCIS maintains five information technology electronic systems: the Fingerprint Masthead Notification System (FMNS), the Customer Identity Capture System (CICS), the FD-258 Tracking System - Mainframe (FD-258 MF), the Benefits Biometrics Support System (BBSS), and the Interagency Border Inspection System (IBIS) Manifest. USCIS is conducting this privacy impact assessment (PIA) because FMNS, CICS, FD-258 MF, BBSS, and IBIS Manifest collect, use, and share personally identifiable information (PII). This PIA replaces the previously published USCIS PIA for the "Background Check Service (BCS)" which describes planned background check-related systems that were never implemented. Upon publication of this PIA, the BCS PIA will be retired.

There are checks at NVC.

When they receive the approved I-129f from USCIS, they check to ensure that it’s been stamped. NVC is occasionally will receive a petition from USCIS and it does not have the appropriate approval stamp in the upper left-hand corner. They are also checking to make sure that the three criminal questions have been answered. He noted that there are times when the petitioner will forget to complete those questions and those questions are subsequently missed by the adjudicator.  In both of these instances the case will then be sent back to USCIS. If one of these things occur with a case file recently received from USCSI, NVC would know within the first week of receiving the case.

And there are checks at the Embassy.

Embassy will take a biometric (fingerprints) from the beneficiary at the time of the interview. During post interview processing the fingerprint card is scanned and checked against a number of interagency data bases to ensure the true integrity of the individual who is migrating.

I'll list the requirements for my own checklist and ask questions as they come to me:
1. She must have a passport valid for 6 months beyond intended stay - I assume she can get to work on this now, rather than waiting for the Packet 3? Yes
2. Birth Certificate - this is straight forward; however, I heard there are specific places the translations for documents must be done. Is that written in the Packet 3, or can she get those translated now as well? The translation of documents is only required if it is in a language other than the country she going to have her interview in and English. ALWAYS check the P3 letter to ensure you are abiding by what they require.
3. Divorce/Death Certificates for previous spouses - neither of us have ever been married. Is it ok to bring nothing to the interview in this regard, or will she need proof that it isn't applicable? Depends on what the P3 requirement is. The Philippines requires a CENAMOR "proof of singleness". That is why I am referring you to the P3 so often.
NO. The beneficiry must complete the medical at the facility outlined by the Embassy. Check your P3 for instructions.
6. Evidence of financial support - I'm about to begin filling out the i-134. I will need my mother to co-sponsor; however, I've heard from some sources that my mother must fill out the i-864, and others say she and I must both fill out the i-134 (no i-864). Both parties will complete the I-134 and will submit the same documents as the petitioner is required. Refer to the P3. Another question about this: Is my fiancee supposed to take the original i-134s, or am I supposed to send it to some agency and give my fiancee a copy to bring to her interview? Each embassy is different. Check the P3 for instructions. If none exist then email the embassy as this will save you a lot of money if you do not have "mail" the document but email it only.
7. Two nonimmigrant visa applications (DS-156) - I've not yet heard of this. Is this another form for me to fill out or the first form for her to fill out. Can she/I start that now or should she wait until getting the packet? This form is no longer used and has been replaced by the DS-160.
8. One  nonimmigrant fiance application (DS-156k) - Same questions as for number 7. Same answer as for number 7.
9. Two nonimmigrant visa photos - Would these be of me or her or both of us? Sorry if this is extremely rudimentary. If this is for the interview then it likely is of the beneficiary. Check your P3 letter for further instructions.
10. Evidence of fiance relationship - I take it this would be all the same evidence sent in to get the i-129f approved? Yes but more current. The evidence is to prove you have had an ongoing relationship since your first meeting. They want to ensure you are still in a bonafide relationship.
11. A check - no questions here. I'm sure if the amount changed, that would be in the Packet 3. Yes or on the website that the P3 will reference for payment. Currently it's USD265.00 but double check.

Again - I'll be eternally grateful for any help/advice regarding what my fiancee and myself should begin working on now.

Q4 Required for all countries where you have lived for more than 6 months since the age of 16 and any country where you have been arrested, even if you were not resident there.  U.S. police certificates are not required.  Police certificates from certain countries are unavailable or are obtained directly by your Embassy (rarely does your embassy execute this step).  Fingerprints are required for certain countries.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html

Here is a copy of the P3 letter that I have for your country. You can start using it to prepare but once you get the one from your embassy review it for final document submission.

You should be over in the sub-forum for your region/country. Go up to the blue ribbon, select forums, then scroll down 3/4 of the page and find your sub-forum. Begin asking questions of others who are going through the same embassy as you. Someone from Germany, Spain or Syria is not going to know what you should do next because each embassy has different requirements.

 ASAP
2. Birth Certificate - this is straight forward; however, I heard there are specific places the translations for documents must be done. Is that written in the Packet 3, or can she get those translated now as well? you can use any sworn translator or use the authorized sworn translation listed on ID.USEMBASY.GOV or,  you can ask your beneficiary to have new birthday certificate from Dinas Kependudukan the updated form already in bilingual ( English - Indonesia) so no need to be translated.
3. Divorce/Death Certificates for previous spouses - neither of us have ever been married. Is it ok to bring nothing to the interview in this regard, or will she need proof that it isn't applicable? Yes
4. Police Certificate for all places lived since age 16 - I have *no idea* what that means. What is that and where would she get it? only if your fiance has lived outside his home country since aged 16
5. Medical Examination - again, should she do this now or wait until the packet? It seems so vague to me... what exactly does one ask for when they go to the doctor? Are there specifics to be examined? Can she see any doctor/hospital for this? dont have to wait the package but you need the case number from NVC. Only physician accredited by the U.S. Embassy can perform this exam. for Indonesia, They only approve physician from RS Bintaro Premiere Hospital
6. Evidence of financial support - I'm about to begin filling out the i-134. if you do the joint sponsor each of you have to file I-134 with the supporting document (I-864 is for AOS).

my personal experience and also some of friends from Indonesia, we always bring the original one to interview session, You have to ask the USEM Directly about to bring copy. I brought the original one since the time range from NOA-2 to Interview was enough for my fiance to prepare and sent original (he also sent the original employment letter)
7. Two nonimmigrant visa applications (DS-156) - I've not yet heard of this. Is this another form for me to fill out or the first form for her to fill out. Can she/I start that now or should she wait until getting the packet? 1 visa application DS-160
8. One  nonimmigrant fiance application (DS-156k) - Same questions as for number 7. NO NEED
9. Two nonimmigrant visa photos - Would these be of me or her or both of us? Sorry if this is extremely rudimentary. the visa applicant / benneficiary
10. Evidence of fiance relationship - I take it this would be all the same evidence sent in to get the i-129f approved? Yes  but with updated from the time after send the petition. (I gave them some WA Screenshot, just 1 for each month)
11. A check - no questions here. I'm sure if the amount changed, that would be in the Packet 3.
