From my experience NVC can only update what they have, AND it takes them awhile to process things. You can request update now, you won't get any response until probably about a week later, at which point you might be told they have no case (because it takes 2-3 weeks for them to get case from NVC) so they haven't "updated" anything. Once again, from my experience, I NEVER got update from NVC until case got sent to Embassy, at which point they did  send e-mail update same day, but few hours later after it changed to to "In transit"

You can update once NVC has received your case from USCIS.

my fiance called nvc today. our noa2 is january 12. and nvc said they dont have yet the case number so we have to wait until febuary 24. or 6 weeks after the date of noa2. if we didint received the nvc case number between febuary 24 we have to call them again.. nvc said we must wait until febuary 24 to call them again.

should we just wait until feb 24? (if we didnt received the case number before feb 24) or we should call nvc again?

I'm curious that since all of our petitions are approved at one location and the approved petitions all go to the NVC, why do some petitions arrive before others?  Maybe @Greenbaum can shed some light on this.
