It's the petitioner's money that they will review and not the beneficiaries. You many need to put school off until after the AOS is submitted. It's a catch 22 situation where you want school and a husband but something may need to give to get one or both.

The AOS is done in the United States after my I-129F petition is approved and my Fiance's visa is issued, correct? I thought I had to show the embassy proof of income before the K1 visa is approved. Can you help me understand the process a little better?

My name is Olga. I'm new to this forum, and it's my very first post.  My fiancé and I received NOA2 on 18th of January, and I assume it should be reaching NVC soon. My question is if updating an email is necessary which is mentioned at the beginning of this thread? Don't they already have an email of my fiancé which he listed when filed the form in the first place? Or should it be done separately?

I'm learning one step at a time, and I got a bit confused about notification processes starting at NVC stage. Also, are they going to send an email to my fiancé's address once the consulate in Moscow receives it? So that I know that it's time for me to prepare all the docs and make an interview appointment.

They already have his email address (probably), but starting from the NVC, the official communication will be going to you, not to him (well, if he doesn't get your email address linked to your case by email or phone first, they'll contact him for that).

His petition was approved; now you're working on your visa application.

You can track the status of your NVC case from the CEAC web site linked on the first page once you get a case number, though it updates to 'Ready' when electronically received not when the physical copy gets to Moscow, and Moscow won't let you schedule an interview before it's physically there and you've done some other things (and possibly not for some random amount of time after; our was NVC Ready on Dec 28; the DHL hack from page 1 let us know the physical copy got to Moscow on Jan 9; and we paid the fee and all that as soon we were able to). You will get an email when you can schedule an interview (that's not a guarantee that spots will be open, but Moscow seems better this year than last year on that).

Thank you so much for letting me know! I also read a few threads about not having many spots available last year, but as far as I understood, they can extend the validation of NOA2 if it ends up being so bad with timing.

Ok then, I'll ask him to add my email in case if he didn't.

Of course I see the meaning behind "detective" work. He has perked up but that's good because others could use his methods to decipher all the information that they don't know what to do with. I enjoy his work and his enthusiasm.

absolutely........not !!!   I love smart people helping out guys like me.   You are so greatly appreciated on this site.   Don't know how you do it.

I gave serious consideration to hiring an attorney to do this.   I think that would have been a serious mistake .... for me personally.  I like to know what's going on, and I like to know the information I'm receiving is accurate.   I don't think there is an attorney out there who would be as knowledgeable and responsive as guys like you.    Oh, and the attorney wanted $1500 for the I129f, which was pretty much a snap.    By the time K-1 filers are done, seems we have a MINIMUM of $2500 in the process, and then we've got the travel on top of that......which is going to be another couple of grand, unless we decide to splurge on Business.

I couldn't agree more on this topic of lawyers. You saved a boat load of money and I could see that you are guy that likes to "suck up" information to expand your knowledge. Your not afraid to ask the WHY questions. Good for you. I hope you don't mind my tongue in cheek humor. It's get offlay dry in here when you read nothing but whinnying.

Thanks for the appreciate.

Best,

Olga

The updating of the your personal email accounts is to ensure that you can be contacted (both of you) when anything changes on your case. This has been found to work for some and for some they never get notified. It'####### or miss. Same, you can do it or you can chose not to do it as it has no affect on your visa approval. The items on the first page are just there for you to use at will. To track the process to stay in the loop of knowledge. Again, yours to use if you would like.

There are two AOS's. One at the interview which includes the I-134 with supporting documents and the other is after marriage there is an AOS which will be the I-864 with supporting documents. You show proof of income at two stops along the way; interview and AOS after marriage.

Also, Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Also, are they going to send an email to my fiancé's address once the consulate in Moscow receives it? So that I know that it's time for me to prepare all the docs and make an interview appointment.

Olga, my first and most important advice.......take Greenbaum's advice.  If he suggests you update the emails, go ahead and do that.   I have followed along with his instructions, and it will help you significantly to understand the process.    Now, with regard to that first and very simple step, go to the website, add in all your information, and you'll notice it only asks for Petitioner email..........so in the text message box, tell them to also include your beneficiary email.   (if you guessed I got that info from Greenbaum, you'd be right)

Next, you got your NOA2 on January 18.   Based on my calculations (from the spreadsheet that GB informed us about in the start of this thread) I found out that on average it takes about 14 days to get to NVC.   So if you don't get an NVC email within 14 days, you can start calling the NVC to get your "case number", and again, GB told us those numbers at the beginning of this thread.   You can use your case number to track your case progress.   Once it says "ready" then, you want to know when it goes to the Embassy.

I've heard "ready" means it's leaving the NVC, and I've heard "ready" mean it's arrived at Embassy.   Not sure which is correct.    Let's say it's leaving the NVC when it says "ready".   Then, you can use the DHL tracking to see when it arrives at your Embassy.

After that, you'll get Packet 3, and just follow those instructions.

Now all of these instructions are basically for impatient people like me, who want to know as much as possible as frequently as possible.   You always have the option to do nothing, as Greenbaum mentions, and just wait until you get Packet 3 then follow what they tell you.

Just a tiny mini note if you don’t mind,

when it leaves the NVC to the embassies the status changes to “in transit”, and when it shows “ready” it means your case is arrived and ready to schedule the interview date. If you’d guessed I got this info from Greenbaum, you’re absolutely definitely right! :))

very thankful and greatful to Greenbaum for his help.

Current I-134 shows expire 11/30/2018. Any new version released yet? How long is this current version valid for?

The "expiration dates" on USCIS forms are for internal OMB purposes only. As long as you have the latest form on the USCIS web site, it's fine.

It's likely there will be some grace period where they'll accept the old form when a new edition finally is created.

same here from ph:) waiting for nvc case number as well. we have to wait for nvc case number first then we can track our case through ceac.state.gov to see if the nvc already sent our case to the consul or usem in the philippines.. after nvc case number we have to wait manila case number for us to schedule our medical and interview..

by doing some research some said that nvc will sent an email stating that they already received our case but i dont know what else are in there.. need @Greenbaum to answer that. lol
