Among the stuff I’m supposed to send my fiance for the interview (affidavit of support and tax transcripts), do I send the original NOA2 or just a copy of it?

The required documents and procedures are listed in the P3. If you have not received on I will share a copy with you. Use it as a check list. I read over the P3 and it does not ask for the NOA2. Most embassies do not ask for it as they should have a copy within your paper case file or it's in the electronic copy.

For Financials follow these instructions.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

Thanks so much again @celie&joseph!

@Greenbaum Oh, I never realized this.  It feels like everywhere I look it mentions sending that as well, but I guess not 🤣 Maybe I’m just going crazy keeping up with everything that needs to be sent or copied lol fiance saw the list of things that he needs copies of and sounded really down (no printer at home so he has to figure something out)

I'm not up to date on how SA works as it concerns whether you book the interview or they do. The P3 that I shared with in another thread, I noticed is from 2015 so things may have changed. Once you get a copy of the P3 can you forward me a copy so that I can help others in the future with a more current copy of the P3. Much appreciated.

I most defiantly will! I also had another question. I’m submitting my tax returns from 2016,2017, and 2018. I made enough for 18 but not 16 or 17. So do I need a joint sponsor?

Use a USB and email to him and he saves them to the USB and takes them to a print shop for printing.

Use the P3 as a checklist

Most embassies require only the most current IRS transcript. So if you have 2018 that's all you'll need to bring to the interview. If 2018 shows that you have enough income to support the 2 of you then you're going to be fine. No need for a sponsor.

It would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the P3 as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed. Instructions are there to register and log in for scheduling.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

Concur.........they do not reference three years in Thailand.........they refer to "the most recent tax return year"....and of course, in tax transcript format.

People get confused with I-864 and AOS which requires three years of returns/transcripts. Every once in a while you will hear a story about a K-1 interviewee that is asked for three years of information. We took three years worth just because it was just as easy as taking one year. But, they never asked us for any of it)

Good info on the AOS.   In Thailand, we mail in packet 3 with the i-134 and tax transcript before we ever get to the interview, so you'd  hope they have made the financial determination well in advance of the interview. Why they request another tax transcript copy is beyond me, but I'm guessing it's going to go the same way as yours.........they'll never look at it.

I've been supporting public charges since I was 14 years  old....certainly not looking to create more.

I know I'm in the minority on VJ but I don't think co sponsors should be allowed and the income requirements should be just a little higher. Immigration is not cheap. I truly wonder how some people manage it on a marginal income.
