We all have to do what is necessary to get our loved ones here. I moan and complain but I'll be flying out again in two weeks to bring her back. It will probably be through LAX again because it has the best connection to St. Louis...Blah))))) At least I won't be making that god awful flight alone again)))

why not go across the Atlantic.   Then you'd have the Detroit / Chicago options.   and chicago has some great fares.

To Manila? I can go through Chicago and sometimes Detroit or Minneapolis but it involves going through Hong Kong or Japan and becomes a 2-stop trip with a razor short connection in both HK and JP. The LA flight is a one stop flight with a layover at LAX that I can adjust to fit my needs. When we com back we will probably spend the night in LA...

Yeah, guess it's a few hours longer than going thru JP or HK.   I am just used to the middle eastern airlines.   Apparently Cathay and JAL are pretty nice though.   I flew Hainan Chicago to Bangkok....business for $2050.   Unfortunately have not seen that fare return.

After my fiancee fly back Istanbul Ataturk to JFK POE she commented she has no idea how I do it since was completely miserable in her seat (Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 wide body 2-4-2 seat arrangement). She is 5"5' and had an empty seat next to her, so she was actually able to lie down across both of them. I am 6'3" on the heavy side, and holy heck that Ataturk to SFO 13 hours flight (Boeing 777ER 3-3-3 seat arrangement) with heck. But nothing was as terrifying to me as my first flight to see her.

I thought the round trip ANA flight looked promising at $614.....Chicago/Bangkok.   So checked out the ANA one way return trip for my fiancee........$1325.   LOL.......can't wait until all of our flights are originating out of the US.

I can relate. I'm 6'1" and I was so uncomfortable. I was flying to the Philippines to meet my fiancé' then and we went through Japan. The flight from USA to Japan was booked solid. No where to go, no where to stretch and no WiFi.  But I made it. We were to meet and spend our time together in Cebu where she had a wedding to attend and so I flew her mom, her sister, my fiancé and her two kids to Cebu. Put us all up in a hotel and had a blast.

 

Funny part of this story is that I arrived in Cebu hours before her. Never having been there before I had to waddle my way through to get around. I took my luggage and went to the hotel where I unpacked and freshened up. Then I went back to the airport to meet her. But once you leave the airport there is no getting back in through any entrance and they made you stand on the other side of the street. So I am standing near her exit have a conversation with the "guard" and I slept him some peso's let me go to the other side but not enter the building. He agreed. So I am standing peering into the window looking for my fiancé to no avail. I'm looking right at the baggage belt and all the bags and passengers scurry around and begin to leave. Finally the last one leaves but no fiancé. So now thoughts are going through my head, did i just get stood up.   Low and behold she finally shows up. She had to stop at the restroom as she had to go so bad. Anywooh. That's my story.

i am the same.... the long flight going to Ataturk and coming back were torture, i am the same height. luckily the flight back i sat in a row with a couple that somehow my seat was between them and they asked me to switch so i would be in the aisle seat... so much better because i could stretch my legs

Now that you guys are talking about flights and POE, I was checking routings today and looks like I can enter through Florida, Houston  and LAX. Which one is the smoothest? None of those look easy, lots of inmigrants going through them

i would guess Ft Lauderdale as it seems to be one of the main PoE

 

when i came back through LAX, it was fairly straightforward, although there were a lot of people. I am going to see if I can get her a flight straight from London Gatwick to Austin TX so i can drive there to pick her up , although Houston would be a good choice as its probably not as busy as LAX or Ft Lauderdale. I have read that Ft Lauderdale is kind of bad actually so I am trying to avoid it as well as Atlanta
