Yea, it happens.  I assume he must fly from home to the closest "big" airport, then from there to Chicago correct?  This is going to be the case from most places.  Even flying out of Kyiv (the capital of Ukraine), Kris is still going to have to fly to France or Turkey before then leaving for Dulles, VA.

Most likely he’ll fly from the island to Miami then to Chicago so I’m thinking about meeting him in Miami honestly

The problem is all connections I’m finding are only about an hour or they’re about 16 hours 😩 and of course nothing direct to Chicago

Maybe put things together in pieces, especially if the 1 or 16 hour layover is in the US? I think from most major airports you can get to Chicago more often than that. Though if you change airlines they probably won't compensate you for a missed flight due to immigration delays.

Yes, we waited for the status in CEAC to be "Ready" just to be sure. I signed and submitted the DS-160, then we paid the visa fee and tried to schedule interview after 5 hours, but failed to set. I tried again after 9 hours after we paid visa fee and I was able to schedule for March 21. Few more slots remaining for March 21. I think its around 30 slots remaining if I remember it correctly.

Alright thanks for the info. I have been impatient to be honest lol trying to scheudule my interview before it even leaves NVC.  That is probably why there are no interview slots for Dominican Republic😂😂🤦🏽‍♂️ But with your and @Greenbaum advice. I will wait.

I read that you need proof of a domicile in the U.S. such as a United States passport, yes.

Although it is true for some embassies, it looks like it's not required in the packet required documents for Argentina. So just like @Greenbaum suggested I'll follow what they want in their list.

Thanks for the reply!

I called NVC to get my case number since February 20th. Who knows how long it will take for my case to be ready and  transfer to the embassy

I was soooo sad today because USCIS told me they hadn't even sent my case yet.... Guess everyone who said they don't know anything was right because I called NVC and they had the number ready for me!  What a roller coaster of emotions this process is.

Yea, I don't know why people bother with USCIS, they give a different answer everytime and it's never correct. NVC answers fairly quick and it's straight to the point, either a yes they have it or a no they don't.

So in my attempt to figure out my case number, I sent two emails weekly. Today I got responses for both from inquiries but they were different.

The first said:

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition: ##### filed by (etc) on behalf of (etc).

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

The invoice I.D. number for visa petition ###### is: ######.

The beneficiary I.D. number for ELIAS, JOSEPH is #####.

The correct case number is listed below.

Pretty standard as all the old ones. But the second one said:

The National Visa Center is ready to accept fees, documents, and forms in support of this immigrant visa application. We will send detailed instructions to the petitioner, principal applicant, and/or attorney of record soon. Thank you for your patience; we look forward to working with you.

I know it doesn't matter until it arrives at the embassy anyway, but I wonder if the second is their standard response when a case is ready to be shipped out and they are done "processing".
