 I had a moment of senioritis. The pre-clearance is only for Dublin and not London. Sorry. Back to Plan "A". ;)

haha no worries!

Yeah, LHR is sometimes an absolute pain.....when you have to change terminals on the shuttle and then re-passing through security.   If he's on BA all the way through, he won't likely leave T5 and that makes a difference.  Leave enough layover time to get through there.

Regarding US clearance, I am not aware of that in LHR............Dublin and Abu Dhabi.   I was considering Etihad through Abu Dhabi but heard Chicago is pretty easy to get through.

Agreed. The few times I've gone through LHR, I pulled a full aerobic routine trying to get through. Between the tram and the walking and the clearance etc, it's exhausting. When we were in Istanbul, he would have MOST definitely been lost if I had not been there lol so heaven knows how he'd handle LHR on his own. He might have to, though, because I've read some airlines don't want to give one-way tickets when coming on a K1 visa? Idk the ideology behind that but if it's gonna be a roundtrip flight, BA is sometimes cheaper than Turkish or United.

She would use the same one. There is only ever one SS# associated per person. @Greenbaum can correct me if i'm mistaken. 😊

I would guess that a large percentage will travel by themselves. I for one traveled twice to PI and the last being to be with her at the interview. I knew that it would take time for her to settle her affairs there while waiting for the visa that it wasn't a big deal for me to go back home. She did great traveling. Made it through LAX and then the red eye to NC.

Sorry to butt in but because of the cost to travel halfway around the world I think Prizm she is being pragmatic and I am sure in some way you'll express that to her.

its one of the many reasons I love her!

Iv been keeping an eye on some potential flights for when the visa is approved and with all the flight talk here I’m wondering if anyone knows if booking a“return” flight will look suspicious over a one way flight? Like will it show lack of intent to stay in the US even though I don’t intend on using the return flight. The one way flights are so expensive in comparison. I don’t plan on booking anything just yet just getting opinions on this.

My VPN is Private Internet Access....closest server to Bangkok is Singapore.   I cleared cookies and cache and logged on.....unfortunately for me, same prices.   Cheapest Bangkok to Chicago one way, $703, cheapest RT is $1074.  Now from Chicago to Bangkok, RT is as low as $600.   O-J......did you mean you want you wanted to book a RT ticket from US and only use the return ticket ?    I am not sure about the airline rules on something like that.    If you're actually finding cheaper RT tickets from your fiance/fiancee home country to US and don't plan on using the return ticket, then I'd say you're fine on RT.

Best suggestion is contact the airlines you want to buy the ticket on. Most US carriers one way is not an issue but you get into some of these countries and they want RT (you buy one way and there is lost revenue for the airlines so they demand RT).

Oh, and speaking of flights, best search engine I know of is Google flights.  https://www.google.com/flights

The reason I like this search engine is because typically, I wanted to search for the lowest fare over a period of time.   I don't want to just find the lowest fare for that day.  So you just type in the origin and destination, then click anywhere in the date box.........you get a nice screen like this.   Then, just pick your day.   You can also limit it to specific airlines to find out their cheapest day.   These are the lowest priced one way trips from Bangkok to Chicago during April and May.

Nope I meant the latter, book a return trip from the UK to US. But cancel the return ticket as I obviously wouldn't be using it. So far the options i've seen haven't been great for either but in the past i've seen one way trips work out more expensive than a return one for me.

Got it.  Yeah, you're right.........$434 RT LHR to DFW, and about $450 one way.   and looks like lots more choices with the RT.  If that were the case for Bangkok, I'd book whatever worked better for us.  I gotta think no one is going to be looking at the airline ticket on a K-1, and besides, they are allowed to go back out with an approved I-131.   Just make that return 4 or more months out.

Well I got you beat. $569 BKK to ORD 4/1/2019 one way.
