Hi everyone,

My aunty permanent green card contain a minor error with her middle name. She filed i-90 but got denied and they asked her to filed i260b, but now she don’t want to deal with the hassles so she decided to keeps her green card as is.

Can she just ignored the letter from uscis? Did her current green card went inactive after she filed i-90?

I do lots of research but can’t find the answer yet. She have to file i-260b as late as Jan 01, 2019. Please help her. Thanks for taking your time to read this matter.

What exactly was the issue? What evidence did she submit with the I-90 that showed her proper name?

No she didn't send any evidence, and in the denial letter they said they requested for evidences but she never received it. But all that is not really matter now, all she need to know now is would her current green card still legit if she ignore the denial letter?

Oh gosh, I see. She technically still has LPR status. The card itself is only proof of status. Regardless, the card contains incorrect information and still needs to be corrected. I am NOT an expert on this, but opening the i-260b is expensive and I believe it's only as a last resort if your case has become complicated and you have been called to appear in court. I think she is actually allowed to simply file a new I-90 (and make sure she sends photocopies of paperwork that has her PROPER name this time).

She can ignore it. The fact that she applied for a correction does not mean the card has been voided. She can ignore the the denial letter, what was denied was the change. Her  underlying LPR status and card remain valid.

She can choose to file a fresh i90 but personally I won’t. I’ve carried various misspellings  of first name since September 1997.
