USCIS Case Status still on Received despite NOA2

Hi all,

Our application has been approved and we have received our NOA2 about 2 weeks ago, however the USCIS case status still says Case Received and the last update on the case was the NOA1 received date.

Is the case status only going to change once the NVC receives our case?

Thanks,

Matt

Nope.  Sounds more like a glitch.

YMMV

Sometimes the website just doesn't update. I would just follow what the CEAC says now :)

I'm assuming I'll need to wait until the NVC receives our case in order to query CEAC right? As I'll need the NVC case number for that.

How do you check that of CEAC, I thought you can only do that if u have been assigned number from Nvc?

This is fairly usual, many people get notes in the mail without having their case status update online. Combine that with a worldwide epidemic of laziness (myself included) around this festive time and you have an annoying delay on your hands. Hopefully the status will change after things are back to normal after the new year, but you can otherwise call them up to make sure everything is OK.

To answer your actual question, it should update even before the NVC receive it, first to "Approved" and next to "Sent to Department of State" (aka the NVC).

I have never seen the latter...  Mine is still sitting on approved for 3 months now

Correct.  Embassy case # is required for ceac

Strange, I thought it was usual for that to be the case. OP might appreciate you saying how you were notified it was sent to or received by the NVC. I'm CR-1 so may be different.

I was notified via email from NVC.  It appears most call NVC incessantly until they finally get an answer

YMMV

Same happened to me. You''re good and no need to worry. The case will be forwarded as it should. Mine was approved 12/07 and it stills says recieved and I just got my NVC case number.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
