My fiancé currently has a C1/D for his job on cruise ships. Despite our best efforts to find a loop hole for him the stay, he couldn’t. Plus someone could look at it as “overstaying a Visa.” Best to not take that risk!

Good day,

Is it possible to use a valid C1/D  visa from work in an unvalid old passport for leisure travelling? - It is all about only transit for chaning aircrafts  in an us airport. New passport is obviously available, but visa is still in old one.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

C1 is appropriate for direct transit but not sure about the combination with D, which would have been a C 1 issued for use with that D?

Yeah, that is exactly the question I am asking myself; C1 is no problem for direct transfers at US aiports... but what about a combined C1/D visa? Any letter from comany requiered or can it just be used privately? Anyone, has experience with that or knows a hotline that I could give a call to? Consulates and embassies apparently do not answer these kind of questions...Thanks in advance.

You need a B.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Merry Christmas to everyone and thanks too everyone for feedback so far. However, I do not get it why quite a few people are refering to B Visa. C1 is totally fine and the visa to be used for just transiting via an US airport. However, the questions is if it is possible to use a combined C1/D visa for private purpose?

People are telling you to get a B visa because that is the visa you need to do what you want.

YOU CAN NOT USE THE C1/D VISA FOR A PRIVATE PURPOSE.
