Hi, My case is assigned to Nebraska service center and I have  extension letter, nothing after that. My case starts with LIN as well. Current status show as your case has been received and no further action is required. No biometric either?

My case is LIN too, almost 5 months since our case was received and we have not received appt for bio nor interview...

No I think (and I noticed) that anyone who got their green card through IR-1/CR-1 Visa  instead of K1 got their process accelerated.

Yep, that seems to be the case. A few IR-1/CR-1 that filed in February 2019, and even in March, either got their interview notice or went through the interview process already. I guess CR-6 filers will have to wait longer. I am hoping that this practice will cut down the processing time for the CR-6 filers since CR-1 will mostly be adjudicated by their local USCIS officers. But the existing backlog in  the service centers probably will still cause delays for CR-6 filers...

Congrats!  That’s awesome (and fast!).

I’m guessing someone took a file from the wrong pile?  Haha worked out to their benefit though :)

Good for them but could that happen to us? One can expect anything from USCIS these days!

Same here. Nebraska strike me as incredibly slow.... the processing times are ridiculous.

We may be moving from Iowa to New York within the next few months. My worry is, what would happen to my case? Would they move it to a different service center once I notified them of a new address? Would it take even longer?

I would highly suggest to stay on top of that address change. I've seen several stories of people missing correspondence/notices because they didn't fully update the new address into ALL their systems. So once you do submit the address change, I would probably call in (monthly) and ask to speak with a higher level rep, Tier 2/3, just to make sure they have the new address and if any notices have been mailed out.

@leroyleviticus

I agree with Maria.  Filling out the address forms for both the immigrant and the USC spouse is unfortunately not enough.  However they process those, they do a terrible job.  I’ve seen people say “don’t move with an open petition” but like, that’s obviously not always possible, so it does need some extra care on your end.

In addition go calling monthly, make sure you get mail forwarding from USPS.

Thought I share our experience that might help others I-751 filers in the future.  My wife and daughter have finally received their 10 year green cards.  My daughter was considered as a minor, under 21, and she was on the same conditional green card application as my wife.  The approval took over a year.  What I thought was unfair was their conditional green card issue date is a year after after they arrived in the US which means their US residency length is subtracted by one year.  In my daughter's case, she would have to wait 6 years (5 years after the green card issue date) before she can submit her naturalization application.  In any case, we applied for the I-751 after 2 years, and again, used a single application for both wife and daughter as she arrived in the US as a minor with her mom.  Approval received after about 15 months.

The below is info is what I wanted others to be aware of so they will anticipate and plan accordingly when submitting the I-751; and not avoid the delays that we had experienced.

My daughter went out of town for college, and we had put her college address on the I-751 assuming USCIS would want this address instead of our home address which would be the home she lives at if she was not in college.  That's appeared to be our first mistake.  We don't believe USCIS cares about the college address; rather, USCIS wants a mailing address that they can send their mail to and expect we would receive them.  So, putting down our home address would be adequate.  But you will note later that even then, there still could be a problem.  My daughter had moved to another apartment when her lease at the college town expired, and she had her mail forwarded to the new address.  Unfortunately, this was about 2 months before USCIS approved and sent her green card.  As it turned out, green card mail cannot be forwarded, as stated on the envelope.  So, the post office returned my daughter's green card to USCIS.  It took 7+ months to get USCIS to resend her green card to our home address.

We received an email stating my daughter's green card was returned by the post office.  We called the USCIS office but received little help; the agent basically said go submit a change of address request and then call back.  That's when we found out my daughter's I-751 application was routed to the USCIS Potomac processing center, and therefore, her case status number now starts with YSC. My wife's application continued to be processed at the California processing center, and therefore, her case number remained to be WAC.  Then we come to find out that due to the Potomac processing center being new, their case numbers are not integrated into the central USCIS computer system.  When we attempted to fill in my daughter's case number (YSC...) on the address change request, we error out with invalid case number.  We did attempt to submit a address change request under my wife's case number and explained the situation and asked daughter's green card be sent to our home address.  We did receive an email response after a couple of weeks acknowledging receipt of the request and will resend the green card to the new address (did not state what the new address is).  After a few more weeks and not sure if daughter's green card is being resent to our home address, daughter and I called USCIS, but was told to wait because we had submitted the address change and received the email response.  The agent on the phone would not confirm what address is used to resend the card.  Not satisfied with the USCIS' comments, we submitted an e-request asking for status of the card resend and what address will it be sent to.  After a couple weeks, received the same email response as before stating the card is being resent to the new address.  Then called USCIS again to get clarification.  However, the USCIS agent told us we need to wait 120 days from when we submitted the e-request before she can help us.  Very inefficient USCIS process/procedure (personal opinion - a company would go out of business if customers have to wait 120 days to get status because they used the company's online status request system to try to get faster answer).  Then tried to make an USCIS appointment when my daughter was back home on holiday break; but found out the Chicago USCIS office no longer accept appointment requests.  Then had my daughter go to the USCIS office in the town of her college.  The agent there was much more friendly, but result was the same - nothing happened.  The agent said typically the card is returned to the USCIS warehouse, and they are known to be extremely slow in processing.  The agent sent an email to the warehouse requesting them to resent the card to our home address, and said to wait a month or 2.  Called USCIS again and asked for status.  Finally, we got an agent who would confirm the card will be resend to our home address, and it's being resent.  Then one day, daughter's green card arrived at our home address.  After a few days, the online status of daughter's case changed to green card delivered.  However, I think the e-request and/or the USCIS agents' email to the warehouse are still being processed by the USCIS system as we continue to received periodic emails saying our requests will be processed shortly (inefficient and wasting tax payers' money).

I guess the moral of the story is use one address and try not to change it if possible, monitor your paper notices from USCIS and online status to see if case number have changed (and monitor the new case numbers), don't use e-request unless it is absolutely necessary, and then just pray USCIS does their job.  Just consider the number of issues and length of time we have to deal with in applying for residency legally.

Hi everyone!

This sadly happened to me when I moved houses and I called and made sure they KNEW they had to send everything to a different address. I even had the receipt to confirm the change of address by phone and e-mail. However, the notice of action to renew my greendcard still arrived at my previous address, and when I called to complain and find out what happened, they told me the mail would always go to the original address that was put in the application. So, basically, as I understand it, it doesn't matter if you change your address, the immigration letters will still go to the original address used for the application. This sucks for me because I really want to move houses now and I am just here stuck waiting on my immigration correspondence (the biometrics appointment and the greencard, after filing my I-751). Does anyone know if there is actually a way to make it happen?

Thanks!

Just popping in to say hi to everyone and pass along some info...

There's been a couple more October 2018 filers with ROC approvals recently and a couple filers got RFE notices in the last couple days.

So it seems like maybe we're 3 mos. away or so from starting to see some activity [hopefully]

I read that and thought “wow, that’s fast” and then I remembered it’s been 7 months (this month) since we all filed.  It feels like it was last week.  This is, to date, the longest I’ve waited with USCIS for something.  My K1 and my AoS both took ~6 months each.  Those felt like forrrrrrever.  This is definitely the most stress-free I’ve been while dealing with USCIS.  Super glad to see they seem to be moving at a reasonable pace.
