WHAT does it mean? they are giving infopass appointments to whom>

The office in Atlanta is giving infopass appointment to people who have already received I-751 notices and their notices have expired.

Not to new appliers.

Although the process is not transparent. I read less than 2 weeks ago somebody getting infopass appointment in same office , so i am not entirely sure why there is selective treatment for some.

01/09/2019  Mailed ROC package via FEDEX to Lewisville,Texas

01/11/2019  Package delivered to USCIS office

01/16/2019  Received text message with service center as SRC

01/17/2019  Status on https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ as accepted. Check submitted electronically to my bank. Not cashed yet.

01/18/2019  Check cashed electronically.

02/07/2019  Called USCIS regarding non delivery of receipt . They asked me to call back after 30 days have expired since delivery

02/11/2019  Called USCIS again regarding non delivery of receipt. Mentioned that license will expire along with greencard on 02/28.

The lady filed a request on my behalf so i could schedule infopass.

                        I separately also filed e-request(https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDNForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=ndn

by choosing I-751 and other option , before calling USCIS just in case.

02/13/2019 Got callback from USCIS that infopass cannot be scheduled, but they will mail

                       a duplicate notice.

11/08/2019 Biometrics got completed

Got call from USCIS that they are not giving Infopass appointments to people who have not got notice but only for people whose notice has expired.

That means no license till i get the notice.

I telecommute and don't have kids, so it is not that big of an issue, but i cannot imagine how other people deal with this.

This is so discouraging.

That's crazy. Luckily I just had an Infopass appointment before my GC will expire in early March.

But if you didn’t receive a notice and everything was filed correctly, then USCIS either needs to provide you the extension letter or a stamp.  You did your part - they need to do theirs.

I think it’s their customer service agents - some just might not be aware.  I would fight that as much as I could.  We all need proof of our status for various reasons, top of which is that we’re legally required to carry proof of status on our person.

If your 2yr GC is expiring soon, you should get the I-551 stamp at the Infopass appointment. Typically the stamp is valid for 1 year.

You can always file the e-request for the NOA1 letter, since it has been more than 30 days, irrespective of the Infopass appointment.

However, in some cases, USCIS will keep your 2yr GC if they give you the I-551 stamp. So if you get the NOA1(extension) letter after that, the letter by itself is not proof of LPR status, so it cannot be used for travel/work authorization/DL renewal. It is still good to have the letter as proof of filing.

Hi, I just went to USCIS office field in San Francisco  this morning for a i551 stamp and guess what? They only extended my gc for 3 MONTHS!!! I can’t believe it! I have been told over the phone by another USCIS officer when I scheduled my appointment that I will receive 1 year extension and my gc will be taken away!!! They let me keep it and said that I should receive my noa soon!!! Guys, I don’t understand anything anymore.... They said also that if my noa doesn’t arrive by May 25th to schedule another infopass appointment to extend my status again! Are you kidding me????What is going on with USCIS???

The person who told me that they wont give appointment called himself an officer. It was callback from USCIS, so i assumed he would have more info than people we get on phone.

I am confused now if i should call and ask for Tier2 person.

Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to call back again and ask more information as well to talk to a tier 2 officer. It is so frustrating as they tell you something over the phone then something else when you go there,as it happened to me as well.

Your case gives me some hope. I am also waiting for my NOA1 letter from Nebraska. I created the e-request to resent notice on 02/14. Keeping my fingers crossed.

H-M, our time lines for I-751 are within a few days of each other and we have not received our NOA1 in the mail either. We are also at NSC.  I filed an e-request for non-receipt on 2/12 and received an email 2 days ago that a copy of the NOA1 will be (re)sent and should be received in 10-14 working days. I checked our case status on the old site and it reflects this activity as well. Nothing on bio-metrics either. So, hopefully you will hear something soon. Spouses GC doesn't expire until April, so we have some time and we postponed, for other reasons, our overseas trip until next year. Trying not to worry too much about this process and just let it flow.

I just read this on an older alert by USCIS.

Since initial data entry has to be completed before a receipt notice can be issued, some petitioners and their dependents may experience a delay in receiving a receipt notice for a Form I-751 submitted to the CSC.

Based on this , it seems like your cases being recognized on the USCIS website is a good sign. Hopefully you guys will receive the notice soon.

I know it must be frustrating. I had the same issue. The first time I called them, they won’t let me get info pass because the reason I gave them was starting a ne job, which is true, but they don’t care.

I called a week later for info pass, the officer called me and asked for reason. This time I said work related travel, he gave me an info pass appointment.

Didn't they ask for proof of travel when you went for the infopass appointment?

Hmmm, I had feared those of our files received during the shut-down may have been assigned a receipt number then put in a box until after the shut-down ended and they are all still sitting in the box. Sounds like they are waiting for data entry to be done. Hopefully the inquiry will prompt someone to look in the box and get the process rolling again.

It seems that field offices are following different procedures regarding issuing the I-551 stamp, since there seems to be no standard USCIS policy on this. Some offices will issue stamp for 1 yr, some for 3 months & some are just refusing to issue the stamps.

Atleast in your case, they let you keep the expired GC so the NOA1 will give you the 18-month extension (whenever you get it). Call or submit the e-request for non-delivery of notice, if not already done.

Yes, apparently they have no rules for that... But yes, I already submitted an e-request on the 22nd, at exactly 30 days. No news yet. Thank you
