Update: My case status is now visible on the old website (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do). Previous it would show a "Validation error". Now it shows that my "Case was Received" on Jan 9.

Not sure if this is any update (like my NOA1 being mailed out!) or USCIS simply fixing their "glitch". Still waiting for my NOA1 letter & no response from my e-request.

Quick questions

1.)  I assume the Biometrics letter comes after the NOA1 (or do they come together?)

Let's assume they decide to let you skip the biometrics - do they send you a letter telling you that as well?

(Cross posted this on the Feb thread as well)

You guys I finally received my NOA! 😭  I was getting so anxious because I have to present my documents for new job next week and my green card expires March 10.

Also my passport is expired and I was hoping I didn’t have to pay $120 for a new one just to get an I-551 stamp.

Here’s my timeline:

Jan/11 - sent package

Jan/14 - package delivered

Jan/17 - text from USCIS confirming they received it

Jan/18 - money order cashed

Feb/17 - submitted e-request

Feb/19 - got reply from them saying they mailed the notice (false because I didn’t receive it) and that they’ll send a copy

Feb/25 - NOA/extension letter received

It's almost like some service centers need that e-request push from us to get things going to send us the NOA. I’m in California and my case is here, (WAC).

1) Typically Biometrics appointment notice comes after the NOA1 letter. But a lot of MSC filers received their Biometrics before NOA1 🤷‍♂️

2) Again typically if Biometrics appointment is not needed, then a notice saying previous biometrics will be re-used is sent. But looking at threads for the past 1.5 year, lot of filers have not received anything regarding biometrics, some have even been approved.

That means no license till i get the notice.

Doesn’t seem right, especially since your card is expiring and you’re without proof of your status, through no fault of your own.

They need more transparency.  I understand an issue ocurred, but they need to get those notices out immediately, or offer infopass.

What happens if you were planning travel outside the US!?  Our lives shouldn’t be halted because of a computer error.

So they should give infopass if our card is expiring soon right? I wonder if they refuse then I would be out of work status and then how will I work? :( really don't know what to do..I am still waiting..it's been 11 days of filing e -request. no response...I called USCIS TWICE. Yeah.. It is big hassle for sure. Especially since my HR had already fudged up my employment form.

If USCIS all of a sudden has issue with my company's way of keeping my record, it will be a big issue through no fault on my part.

Also, my thinking is that not every USCIS office acts the same way. Since you are in NY, there is a chance your rules for Infopass will be different than mine. So, it is entirely possible that you can get the stamp within 30 days of expiration.

It is especially discouraging since i submitted a month and a half before expiration. Even if they don't want to send a notice for 18 months without some extra background checks, it would make sense if they give 2 month extension so we are not in this gray zone.
