It appears that when an N-400 is filed with a pending I-751, it ends up being a combo interview. I guess I should say the I-751 isn't approved until the N-400 interview. My wife said the I-751 was not mentioned in her interview, but it showed approved online the next day.

According to the link below,  the Dallas field office received 8,172 new N-400 cases from Jan. 1 - March 31, 2020. During the same time, they processed 6,991 cases. At the end of March 2020, they had 27,672 cases pending. This is about the time covid shut down the offices. Assuming more cases were added while field offices were closed, Dallas had about 30,000 cases pending when they re-opened. That looks like about a 4 1/2 month backlog.

Not necessary I don't understand how USCIS process cases for me it does not make any sense. I had a interview for conditional green card from K1 and now they supposedly say I will have combo interview .My I751 file is physically sitting there at NBC for more than 6 months waiting for either approval or transfer to local field office.

I went there last week and literally I have not seen anyone in the office except for worker. No wonder why they have got backlog because they aren't process cases as they are supposed to?Covid is just an excuse for their sloppy work

Calling to local field office for stamp is useless .I would strongly recommend you to speak with Tier 2 officer, only then you would be able to get an appointment for stamp

Thank you for the tip! How do I reach a Tier 2 officer? I actually called some hot number and not the local office, turns out. I was googling how to set up an Infopass appointment, and it said you cannot set it up online anymore, you have to call an 800 number.

Hello, my GC expired early Oct.

1. I will try to call to get an infopass for the letter, looks like a lot of people got rejected to get a stamp. Do you know how many months is the stamp valid for?

2. What happened to my immigration status when I can't get a stamp in my passport. Will I still be able to work ? How many months can I work without green card + letter of extension?

Thank you

My stamp is for a year. .

Your immigration status is the same. You can work just the same as long as you actually submitted your removal of conditions. The documents expired but your status did not.

Call the uscis contact center and tell them that you need an infopass for stamp. They will tell you that it is for emergencies only and tell them that it is an emergency and you will use it for your job either you have a job offer or you are currently working. Then they will transfer you to a tier 2 officer. I got my stamp for a year and they did not ask for any emegency documents like a job offer, currently working, needed to travel home etc etc.

My i751 is STILL pending (says “case was received”).  I had contacted my congressman’s office earlier and they advised it will be sent to the local office to be adjudicated with my n400.  That was scheduled for April 14th, but obviously delayed because of covid.

I opened a service request yesterday with USCIS as according to their processing times, I am outside normal times.  Hoping this prompts my local office to re-schedule my interview soon so I can be done.

My extension letter will expire on October 6th, so starting to get a little nervous.  I definitely do not want to have to call USCIS and get stuck in their phone system for hours.

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy, and if you’re still waiting, look at the processing time and see if you can open a service request (real simple online).  And of course, if you’re considering filing for the n400, and want to save some $$, submit before the fee hike in October.

Hello Fellow VJers,

when you are looking at processing timelines which office do you look at. For my N400 application the office on the I-797 says National Benefits Center. Would I be correct in assuming you have to check processing times for your local USCIS office (in my case it would be Tampa FL)?

We filed back in January 2019 for I-751 and January 2020 for N400, but no updates since biometric was taken.

Hey, I'm in the same boat, except I cannot even submit "outside normal processing time" request. My extension letter expires in September, and I can only submit the request AFTER that because the office extended their processing times just recently :( What is your office for I-751? Wishing you luck with all that!

Yes. National Benefits Center is only doing the pre-processing, meaning they prepare cases for interviews. This is why there is no official processing times for NBC, as cases are just there temporarily until the local field offices are ready to take them on and schedule an interview. So yes you're correct, you need to look at your local field office's timline. Likely you will have a combo interview so you can check processing times for N-400 at your field office.
