Did they indicate in the letter that you have to get co-sponsor?

A Congressperson will be of no use for this..the Consulate Officer is the sole decision maker.....Get a joint sponsor.

You said "My wife".  Is this for adjustment of status after marriage or K-1 interview?

After marriage

Generally, your wife's joint sponsor will need to file an I-864 with supporting evidence.

How many tax returns did you submit? At least 3 years?

Then you should do what they ask for.....get a joint sponsor to submit an I-864 with supporting documentation.  You have no other choice.

The OP stated "my wife income doesn’t meet poverty guild line".  That tells me that the current income is not sufficient.  If they asked for a joint sponsor, I see no other options.....other than getting a joint sponsor.

Keep in mind guys, sometimes when they say you haven't met the poverty guidelines it means they dont have your documents that prove you did meet the guidelines because they lost them.

I'd be wary about offering advice myself until I saw the actual RFE.

Million bucks if it says that they didnt meet the guidelines AND asks for copies of the Tax forms, this is the case....

What is the line 22 of the most tax return says ?

Did you sent Full tax return?

Official tax transcript?

What did you submitted?

What actual RFE says?

it's hard to give you advice if we dont know what did you submitted. Also if you meet requirements you dont need a co-sponsor. Yes, its easy in some cases, but it shouldn’t be necessary if you do meet the requirements. Even if by small amount, you still meet it.
