Well the optics make it that much worse for people coming across the southern border due to stunts like the caravans

And that's really the whole problem with trying to explain the reality of the immigration system to people isn't it? Optics. People only care about what they think it looks like. What it seems like. Instead of what it is. Politicians only care about exploiting that little feature. Reality says it's visa overstays that are the biggest number... the one that most aren't thinking about. And this is also how perfectly legal and law-abiding immigrants also get accused or treated appallingly by some or assumed of being illegal. This is how the system becomes more difficult for all of us. The majority of Americans do not understand the system. They don't even understand it even when you make some small attempts to correct them (because they don't want to be corrected). When pundits get on TV, it's clear most of the time they don't understand it either.

It also doubles the amount of money we have to pay to in order to support them. It's not like most of them pay any sort of meaningful taxes compared to what they take. Since the vast majority get paid under the table cash, live 10-15 to a house, and the vast majority of their money home to their country

original numbers estimated at high end give 170b/year on illegals.. the article i shared shredded that to 10%

lets say numbers of illegals double amd costs they take.. ok thats now 340b... have the same group the shredded orignal numbersand theyd shred that to 10% as well.. 34b.  nowhere near the 200 b stated.

My spouse and step child are Filipino, look mexican, the kid has a Hispanic family name, we don't attract public outrage, they are treated equally in our dealings. In our circumstance, I do not see the hate you claim ...

My spouse and kids as well. They all look Hispanic and don't get another look from people at all. The only thing that happens with my wife is when people come up to her speaking Spanish and she says that "she doesn't understand" so they walk away.

She scared about coming here to NC due to what she has heard but hasn't felt any hatred or animosity at all.

Last I checked it $2000 to the coyote and $1000 to drug cartels

Just curious, what establishments do you frequent to get thus info?

And yet the leading source of immigrants here illegally are overstays of valid Visas. Most of those folks did not cross the southern border, and the wall does nothing.

Now that is an issue as well, but those folks did not cross the border illegally did they.  This is also the main reason it is so difficult to get a visitor visa from many countries, and quite frankly, some of those countries currently in the VWP should probably be re-evaluated.  I am all for ICE cracking down on ovestays of people that did enter with inspection. I do think we can walk and chew gum with respect to cracking down on illegal immigrants.  As to your assertion, please provide a reference to your statistics.

I would be ok with a lifetime ban if found to have become illegal whether via visa overstay or illegal entry. Increasing punishment for follow-on incursions
