Again I do not see it, maybe I am blind or numb to it.

What other group gets education in their native language, specialized translators at major businesses, signs in Spanish etc..

Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a race, do Germans, Irish or French expect these same accommodations?

The hate is wrong, I won't disagree there, however I got beat up in San Antonio for being a gringo, although as a 19 yo drunken soldier I took it as deserved not racist.

I grew up in Boston during busing, had a state trooper riding shotgun on my bus, had family members fired from the police and fire departments because of racial quotas, these were racist acts. Sorry for the rambling, but all of this is transitory, I have the impression I am considerably older than you, you need to thicken you skin or give up

haha. i could care less if people criticize me.  it is my fiance i think it will be unfair to.  she us the one who will leave most of her family behind, enter legally, but then thought to by many as illegal, and even possibly harrased as other have been.  and it has increased greatly since 2016 (year trump took office)

again i have a friend that i work with from puerto rico, he has stated he has been asked more than enough times if he is here legally.

also, US has the 2nd largest spanish speaking population that is why there is speacil accomodations for them in the US..estimated the US will be the largest speaking country by 2050.

Yes there will always be hate. but it should not be pushed by the government "for the people" (PEOPLE , Not whites). and rhay is exactly what it is doing by the POTUS making a big deal of the southern border when that isnt even the main way people enter illegaly.  They mostly enter through non-immigrant visas and never go home.

hold up.  hate crimes go from small harrassment to actuall

 beheadings.

did someone so much against the crime of someone making a better home their family just tell me to thicken up to hate crimes?

im just curious if this is what you imply because if it is... im dine talking.  there is no point in debating to someone with that mindset.

You read way more into what I wrote than what I wrote. I was speaking to angry speech, passive agressive behavior, unkind words, unfortunately in our society That's going to happen. You do what you can to insulate your family but you will not catch it all, it's not her ethnicity in general but your familial Situation that causes difficulties, in a primarily Hispanic neighborhood you may be the target of verbal assault. You can't find the perfect place, it doesn't exist, at least not yet. Our differences tend to polarize us.

If you consider my opinion unfit for discussion, it's your call. I will survive with or without it.

My spouse and step child are Filipino, look mexican, the kid has a Hispanic family name, we don't attract public outrage, they are treated equally in our dealings. In our circumstance, I do not see the hate you claim ...

Everyone lives in different states pretty much on this forum.. and in different towns with different mindsets and a different culture of people. I certainly see it in my town. My husband works in an ethnically diverse, fairly liberal town... and yet he still gets the condescending snark attitude, ignorant comments, to outright racism towards immigrants. He's white so those racists on the job tell him he's ''ok" (to his horror) but they behave no less offensively towards him. Then when he comes home to our town... it's on display 24-7.

At a doctor's appointment this month the front desk lady is Filipino. Her accent is so thick it is nearly unintelligible, and she is also very poor at typing (no idea how she has the job.. but she is the dearest sweetest lady). But I can understand her pretty well face to face. At least three occasions I've been sitting there and extremely racist people have exploded at her. They think she is Mexican.. she is clearly not. And it doesn't matter anyway. Her English will never be good enough, and her skin color will never be accepted in this town.

Someone I know of in another state, sent her daughter (dumb as a post) off to college this year. She has little wits about her in social situations, and got into her first encounter with a boy asking her out. The town she lives in has a heavy Muslim population. The boy was Muslim of course, and the girl, flustered gave him her number. Oh... when momma found, she freaked. Went online and basically accused that boy of being a terrorist and stalking her daughter. Made daughter a terrified wreck and didn't want to continue going. Pulled daughter out of college and gives into waves of paranoia every single time a brown person says something to them.

Ever been to Colonial Williamsburg? I go every few years. This year I took my husband, and we had so much fun... but there's always got to be a handful of people there that have to make their little racist digs. A big group of us were gathered into a mansion house on a tour, and there was one woman who just couldn't stop talking about ''the blacks'', terrible immigrants, she didn't want to know about slavery because she didn't care, how everyone keeps trying to make her feel something, and that the only reason she came is because she saw the town on Fox News. and I'm censoring my language here...  The room started feeling really tiny. There was a massive shift in the room, and things got really uncomfortable really quick. Eyes got wide, everyone wanted to drag her out, but no one wanted to start a fight. When they let us out, everyone peeled out of that building so fast! Later we saw her screaming at a school tour of Korean kids, about what were they doing here, because they don't care about America.

Now that is an issue as well, but those folks did not cross the border illegally did they.  This is also the main reason it is so difficult to get a visitor visa from many countries, and quite frankly, some of those countries currently in the VWP should probably be re-evaluated.  I am all for ICE cracking down on ovestays of people that did enter with inspection. I do think we can walk and chew gum with respect to cracking down on illegal immigrants.  As to your assertion, please provide a reference to your statistics.

No, the vast majority came with the intent to lie to gain entry... which imo is just about as bad. But... we'll still continue to turn a blind eye to all that in this country. Optics.

I'm sure you are older than most of us, but my entire life has basically been spent around the older generations. My dad could tell stories about the race riots, and my mom could tell stories about how her black friends were segregated and treated horribly, she'd also tell stories of how people in Baltimore would often treat Jewish immigrants too. My grandfather taught me the lessons he learned from the hatred he saw in WWII. And.. my dad's dad exposed me to enough racism and hatred enough that it made me sick to be related to him. Thick skin only gets you so far. When I see people of color and immigrants of any color treated poorly, it stirs up something within me.

Every one of us can pull racist episodes from our memories, racism is irrational, I am not claiming it doesn't occur.

I believe (total opinion) that most people are not racist, we are exposed more often than not to negative examples because we do not register non-racist acts, only those over the top fringe acts done by the minority of people

Im implying it has been on a increase since 2016.

some cities jumping 176% increase in reports of hate crimes. (harrasment is a crime)

you just got some accounts of it, some statistics  on it, and now you have seen it.

I still do not see it (I have not had the same experiences), I am not doubting your experiences just saying that from my perspective, I do not share them.

As to your observation on the timing of the increase, up to you to draw whatever conclusion you choose, my agreement or disagreement is irrelevant to your opinion.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/hate-crimes-america-spiked-17-percent-last-year-fbi-says-n935711

The FBI reported more than a 17 percent rise in hate crimes across America, officials said Tuesday — the third consecutive year the numbers have increased.

The annual report showed there were 7,175 bias crimes, which targeted 8,493 victims based on their race and sexual orientation, reported in 2017.

There had been 6,121 hate crimes reported in 2016, 5,850 such offenses in 2015 and 5,479 in 2014. The 17.2 percent spike follows increases of 4.6 percent and 6.7 percent in the previous two years.

The hate crime totals were comprised of 59.6 percent acts against a victim based on race, 20.6 percent because of religion and 15.8 percent for sexual orientation, the FBI said.

"This report is a call to action — and we will heed that call," acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker said in a prepared statement.

Reminds me of an instance in Mall of America.. i was on floor one, hopped in the elevator and another woman followed and asked if i was going to floor 3, i said yes.  it stopped on floor 2 and a muslim man and woman walked in   the original lady lookes up fron he phone and basically ran out

That is an interesting anecdote, but I think you are making a major assumption due to preconceived thoughts.  She could have simply remembered that the store she wanted was on the 2nd floor.  So, unless she actually said she was getting off the elevator due to the presence of a Muslim couple you are making an assumption.  Here is one that me, I was out running with my dog in a quiet neighborhood and saw there were a couple of walkers just off the school bus.  I moved to the other side of the road as my dog can be an aggressive jumper around new people (she still thinks she is a lab puppy and not a 75lb four year old), it had nothing to do with the fact that the walkers were black, I do the same thing for everyone, but who knows, they may have made a similar assumption.
