RFE bith certificate

OK so needless to say I am alittle upset. I just got an RFE for my birth certificate, which I did submit. Now this question goes to all you Europeans. I am not sure if you are aware but each country now issues "an international" birth certificate which is done according to Vienna convention of 1976. Now two main languages that are on the certificate are French and language of the country issuing the certificate, however there is a legend showing meaning of each field in 9 different languages (including English). So I figured that translation is not neccesary, but it would appear that I was mistaken, and that people reading my birth certificate could not figure this out.

Now my question is if anyone has a similar experience with a European birth certificate, and how did you go about translating it??

Well since noone else on VJ seems to have similar experience i sent in my birth certifiate to be translated by a profesional. Cost to me: $75, couple of days of stress and hopefully not too long of a delay with the UNCIS.

When I had my wifes birth cert translated I did what you did and called a translating service. Cost me $80, good luck.

I translated my birth certificate by myself and added a statement that I'm fluent in the languages being translated and I swear the translation is true and correct.

I did the same thing the first time around, but i still got an RFE. Maybe they just lost the birth certificate, who knows.... But this will solve the problem ,and it sems like the quickest and least painful way...

I did what Anastasia did, I translated the document myself (I'm a professional translator) and added the statement that I'm fluent in the languages being translated, bla bla bla.

I'm European (Italian) but I had never heard about that international birth certificate...sounds cool, though! I guess the small town I'm from is not that advanced, yet!

I'm sorry it didn't work out...maybe they simply lost it, as you said.

I sent in one of those International birth certificates (issued in Germany) because that's what everybody else on the German internet board said they'd done as well. The languages on the certificate are German, French and English. Since I just filed for AOS last week, I cannot tell you whether it will be sufficient, but as far as I know, none of the other Germans ever had a problem with it.

Maybe the difference is, that on our certificates, English is actually one of the three languages and not just part of the legend...?

However, I am sure that having it translated will solve the problem in the best and quickest way, since you were already RFE'd.
