Yes they’re saying if we do take action they will say they lied in their affidavits. They also put us in debt which is unrelated to the phones and they won’t pay us that money either because if we take them to small claims court they’ll try to do the same thing.

Only an idiot would appear in person before a notary, sign an affidavit, then tell a government agency oh sorry we lied in our affidavit.

Me?  My advice is call and raise.  Turn off the phones today and move on.

Some things sound easy but doing them is harder.  They would have to call and sit on hold and then explain they aren’t a party to a case but want to report their own lie.  The agent taking the call will surely hang on their every word.  You probably have voice or text messages with their own threats to turn over if they ever did follow through.

I’m not one to take much lying down, so I’ll just reiterate that I’d be pressing criminal charges.  When you do that, don’t tell them you’re going to do it ahead of time.

What's even sadder about this, is that this is your husband's own family trying to do this to you (and him, by extension)...

If you have other compelling evidence to support the AOS, I wouldn't even worry about it affecting your immigration if they chose to recant their statement.

Hi everybody! Me and my husband send my AOS package in April and my husbands brother and sister in law were the people who wrote the affidavits since we lived with them for over a year and we were really close. They turned out to be really bad people and now they’re blackmailing us for paying their phone bill(they’re on our contract just added as lines). They refuse to pay their bill and say that if we sue them they’re going to retract their affidavits and say that they lied about everything they said initially (which is not true, everything in their affidavits was completely real.) My question is could that really affect my application?

This is soooo confusing you dont need Affidavit letter when filing I-485. you only submit it when you file I-751(even then it's an optional letter) what visa did you enter the US with? K1, CR1?

You only submit that letter when you are removing Conditions of residency. Also, that letter carries very little weight, you need to submit proof of relationship using joint tax returns, joint bank account, bills, even children.  Someone writing a letter is just extra backup, not gonna effect it unless you barely submit anything else.

As far as your phone bill, pay it this one time, remove them from your plan. and when it comes down to your AOS interview, if they ask, explain that your relationship with these couples has changed since you filed, im sure they are understanding, things happen, they dont care as long as you have OTHER proof of relationship like bank statements and big purchases like home, cars and insurance in both your names, you changing your last name.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: find another person who can write that letter and bring it with you to the interview.

Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview: 1/16/19

AOS Interview Appt: 6/4/19

AOS Interview: 7/10/19

AOS Approved: 7/23/19
