My husband went for his visa interview on December 7, 2018. It went ok but it was very confusing. They gave him a piece of paper indicating to have household member or sponsor upload their 2017 W2 and 2017 Form 1040 Tax Returns on CEAC website and then for my husband to drop off that letter, the uploaded documents and his passport to the drop box in Mumbai.

After reading the letter, I concluded that they need my tax documents since I am the household member and sponsor. I upload my tax documents on the CEAC website and emailed it to my husband and he printed it and dropped everything to the drop box on Monday December 10, 2018. The status is in Administrative Processing. When I checked the status it's still the same except it says case last updated 12/11/18 which makes me think they received all our documents because when I check the status on the ustraveldocs.com/in website, it says your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate.

Now, I called NVC. They told me I need a joint sponsor. I am confused because 1. there is no open link on CEAC website for me to add a joint sponsor and upload their documents and 2. the letter given to my husband doesn't say joint sponsor.

I emailed the US Embassy and I am waiting for their reply. Would you happen to have some advice for me?

Thank you.

Well, do you meet the income requirement just on your own W2? If yes, you don't need a joint sponsor.

I made 3X the poverty line in 2015 and 2016. In 2017 I didn't work because I was in India with my husband. I am working now and I am making 3X the poverty line. SO I am confused.

If you provided documents that you are currently working and making that much and you explained that you did not work in 2017 and the reason why. I think everything should be fine. Plus, they didn't say anything about a joint sponsor at the interview, right?

No, they didn't say anything about a joint sponsor either to my husband or on the letter. The letter did not have the word joint sponsor. I don't know why NVC is telling me to get a joint sponsor. That is what they see in their notes.

I don't know what's going on. Did the letter they give your wife indicate they want a joint sponsor? The letter they gave us didn't say joint sponsor. It's NVC who is saying I need a joint sponsor but I can't even add one on their website. There's no open link.

OK, I understand. Yes, I think NVC only collects documents for the embassy. Have patience. God is good.

My husband received an email from the US Embassy in Mumbai, India to pick up his passport. He picked it up and they gave him a letter that we need a joint sponsor. When I go on the NVC CEAC website to add joint sponsor and their tax documents, I am unable to add. There's no link for me to add anything except for my own documents. Can anyone please help?

Thank you.
