The other night, she called my hubby a tree-hugging hippie (he's from BC), so, in retaliation, he called her a cowgirl (best he could come up with late at night when he was half asleep).... all in jest of course  So, in the spirit of FUN and because I am curious, what are the different stereotypes for your region of Canada?

I found this video of your hubby! Him and his friends must have been having fun after a hard day of tree planting!

I dunno if it's a stereotype per se, but my American friends call me the "Canasian" in the group. And also hippie, to boot. :D

Nini - Vancouver BC, Canada (she's the one who does the forum thing)

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Getting our sanity tested by bureaucracy since 2007.

Here we go again...

I am rolling on the floor laughing, and not just cuz my office chair that I have been precariously perched on just broke :(

So tempted to get the hubby out of bed to watch that, but I guess I will let the man sleep.

Hmmm, stereotypes or name calling? lol I've been called a socialist, a stubble-jumper (being from Saskatchewan I guess). In jest, someone told me once that Canadians are liberal environmentalist pot smokers...lol

And yes...the stereotype that we call "eat, live, love" hockey.

While I'm down south, they've tried to call me Rebel Jim's Yank.........ah. Somehow they've associated Canada with the Northern States.

The neighbours keep calling me the Canadian Indian??? Figuring they keep this stuff up, I can pretty much get away with anything.

Quiet, not self absorbed.

Not really a stereotype, but I have a really good friend in Mississippi who once told me that I wasn't half bad for a liberal and a woman! I totally laughed my ### off. You have to understand, coming from him, this really was a compliment.

Oh oh oh.. and what's that show with Rick Mercer? The one where he interviews Americans and asks them to comment on all sorts of bogus Canadian current events? This thread just made me think about that - it's hillarious.

Sorry if I have made a hijack move here, lol.

Think the show is called "Talking to American's". Saw a Harvard segment one night...

Professors were asked if they wanted to sign a petition that would request the Canadian government not to allow:

- the elderly to be put on ice flows and sent out to sea

- the killing of seals in Saskatchewan

Oh yes, I think there was a segment from the Governor of Alabama too congratulating Canada on their first rotary phone service.
