A few questions. I appreciate the opportunity to post this and if I am posting in the wrong area - please educate me as I'm fairly new.

Can anyone give me some feeback regards to the efficiency of the Nebraska office in filing documents? I'm a US citizen that got married to a non-US citizen in South America. I have an attorney in OKC, and we submitted the first documents (I-130 Documents & Biographical Data Forms) about 45 days ago.

It was sent Certified Mail so we know it was recieved. I hope to hear from them so we can then immediately file the I-129F form (but file it for my wife, instead of my fiance).

The concern is if we don't hear from them for several months - how can we track the the forms since we have no case number? I understand it (I-130) has to be put inot the system (in take - out take), and the time has not been long.

Any advice would be appreciated. As when I click on the "Processing Link" on this site and go to Nebraska, it does not provide any table at the bottom (as other center did), thus some of the concerns and reason for this post.

Also, a referal for an aggressive attorney might be helpful. THANK YOU very much.

You might have better luck posting on forum down in the K3 area. The K1 doesn't deal with the I-130. I dont know about the I-130, but for the I-129F, they are being forwarded from Nebraska to Cali. Check up top for processing and immigration timelines. The ones posted here are MUCH more accurate than those one the US gov. site.

Oh, and an aggressive lawyer won't help much with this. You are stuck in line and no matter how aggressive you or a lawyer are, you can't speed forward through the wait.

Edit: 104 days for I-130 from Nebraska for approval

Nebraska doesn't handle family based petitions - it will automatically be forwarded to California. You can track your case status online using the WAC# on the back of your cashed check (once you have set up an account).

I wouldn't bother with an attorney unless there is something unusual in your case or you don't feel comfortable filling out and organizing all of the forms yourself - most people can manage just fine on their own with the help of this forum and the others available out there. Good luck.

If your check has not been cashed after 30 days, you can call the USCIS customer service line to see if they have you in their computer system, that way they can give you a receipt # over the phone while you get the NOA1 for the I-130 (if you ever get one).

Thank you SO much... I sent a MONEY ORDER.... Yikes.... Not a personal check. Your situation seems similar to mine. I have a receipt so maybe I can see if it was cashed.. THANKS!

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply! I understand completely about the waiting in line - that is fair. My concern (about aggressiveness), is trying to find an attorney that will be more aggresive in the sense of "turn-around" and follow-up with me. I have some concerns about my current attorney, she seems very, very non-committed. But THANKS SO MUCH!
