Hi Everyone,  It's the first time I check status by inputing my MTL# on https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx. I find the status is Ready. The following is the note:

"Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. If you have already scheduled an interview appointment, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the Consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview

For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV."

 

I'd like to know how to schedule an interview?  I should go to local consulate(Montreal) website to shedule right? https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/appointment-checklist/ My petitioner prepared I-134. Do we need I-864? When shall I do DS-260. I found this step is quite confusing.. Thanks for any ideas.

For Montreal you need to first take care of Packet 3. You cannot book your interview until you receive the official invitation from the consulate which is in "Packet 4"

At this stage all you can do is try to send in Packet 3 without first officially receiving it from MTL, but they may respond to you telling you to wait until you receive Packet 3 from them either via e-mail or snail mail.

And no you do not need I-864, only I-134 for K1. You can start your DS-160 now (not DS-260 that is not for K1).

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actually one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

I am in a similar boat, my case for my derivatives were updated on May 29, 2024. I haven’t received any communication from the consulate yet. No packet 3 or 4 yet. Anyone knows what can be done in such case? Btw, this is for immigrant visa for my spouse and kids but exactly same message as OP has posted. Thanks!
