if they gave us the pink sheet after a 3 min interview and uttered the words 'welcome to the united states' i'm gonna go ahead and assume there is no issue and its just a routine non-canadian check. Years wait seriously sounds scary af.

The years wait is usually for the people from high fraud countries or those who have the same or similar names on terrorist watch lists.

I think ap for non Canadian citizens who are here with pr doesn't take too much longer than Canadian citizens. I have read that most cases come out within 90 days. But a lot of those 90 day cases were because the Consulate required additional information.

Yes.

Good info to know, was wondering if they still send even Canadian citizens born elsewhere into the same AP as they seemingly do with PRs.

Anyway, I bet your visa is issued this coming week :) 🤞

Congrats to @Kathanael and @EdmoAm on the quick turn around! Are you both born Canadian citizens? I'm starting to get that pre-interview dread that my Canadian PR fiance (Irish citizen) is going to be one of the unluckies that gets stuck in the AP wormhole, lol. 🙄

Yes, I am Canadian born.
I wouldn't think an Irish born Canadian PR would cause much delay though.

Thank you! :) No, I was born in the UK (my family moved to Canada when I was almost 2). However, I am a Canadian citizen (I have dual citizenship, Canada and the UK), so there weren't any issues regarding my citizenship. In addition, my fiancé in Seattle was born in the U.S.

I really hope you don't get stuck in AP! It seems like this process has been quite a long one for you guys, so fingers crossed it's smooth sailing from here on out! Is your interview this week or next?

Cool, that's helpful as well! I imagine UK and Ireland are viewed pretty similarly. Even if we do get stuck in AP, he wouldn't be able to move down here until about June/July-ish, so I guess some short time in AP wouldn't matter anyway. He is currently awaiting Canadian Citizenship as well and it's been taking way longer than anticipated (even longer than this visa, lol) so he's trying to get that complete before heading down here. Luckily the visa interview and the assigned Canadian Citizenship test date did not overlap! That's what we were most afraid of and trying to delay the interview for 😎

Yay, glad I could help! Yes, I would think so too. Ahh, he's awaiting Canadian citizenship...no wonder it's taking so long! I got my citizenship when I was a kid, so no worries for me there, hehe. I agree with you that it'll probably all be easier once he gets his citizenship. It's a lot at once, but I'm sure it will all be worth it! Good thing the dates don't overlap! And at least you're not in a rush...I'm sure it will all work out!! Keep us posted!!
