Question for those who've had their interview already:
What did you use to carry all your documents to the interview, since we're not allowed to bring bags or briefcases to the consulate?

I'm interested in this info too! We currently have one of those hard shell, like 15 pocket, accordion folders (like this). I'm stressed they will be like get "this monstrosity out of here." I've spent so much time organizing and labeling all the sections 😂

My fiance brought 3 big binders. But they wanted only interview letter that displays proof of payment, i -134 (affidavit),  birth certificate,  police clearance docs, medical, proof of legal immigration for Canada, petitioners W2s...and thats it.

My fiance over-prepared with a lot of stuff, we had a long list of things as proof of an on-going relationship. They didn't care about that at all.

Did they take the original copies too? or just copy of it?

they took the original medical, police clearances, birth cert. everything else they took was a copy. though they returned the birth cert at the time of the interview.

Make copies of everything is a sound advice.

Hi guys. For the affidavit of support.. my fiance is above the poverty line.. do we need to put how much he got on the bank for the assets or we can leave it blank?

Everywhere I've read says to leave it blank if above poverty line but we did add some assets info anyway. Doesn't hurt to add i don't think. I'd provide additional info like offer letter doc and W2s from last 3 years.

I used one of those accordion folders from Staples.  It was like $10.  I carried it in in a sackpack, which doesn't seem to count as a backpack (considering it's literally a bag with a cinch).  I also saw someone rocking a classy plastic bag. :)

So we got the visa today, which includes a "DO NOT OPEN" manila envelope full of documents... but the envelope got a pretty large tear at some point during delivery. Should we be concerned? 😕

If you're worried, reach out to a Canadian embassy and ask for further advice.

Did you take care of this already? If not, it really depends on the tear. I've seen this happen pretty often. You should probably try to contact the consulate. I've seen people [from all dif countries] take it back to the consulate to be resealed.

How did you have it delivered?

Just had my interview this morning and was APPROVED! So happy! ☺️ it was also so nice to meet some of you guys while waiting in line!!!

It was awesome meeting you too!

Congratulations again!

I *think* I was approved. It seemed like I was there forever. I had to really explain the custody orders I have (because BC's terminology changes and they no longer have the word 'custody', it's 'parenting responsibilities') and my fiance's criminal record.

After what seemed like 20 mins of typing, the lady said "well, the system has been very slow the past week or so, but I can usually guess what it will be, so I'm going to give you the pink paper and say congratulations."

Way to keep the anxiety going... jeez.

Thank you! Congrats to you too! I’m sorry it took so long while you were there! :(  I imagine they just have to do their due diligence with it comes to things like custody and a criminal record, so as long as you got the pink paper, you should be good to go! I think she would have told you there was more to process or something if there was, so fingers crossed you get your passport/visa mailed back ASAP! Keep us all posted on here! ☺️
