yeah! I'm the USC so my fiance will be moving down to Portland, but it probably won't be until July ish (ya know, if we actually get a visa and don't go into a 5 year AP). We'll also be U-hauling... should be quite the adventure lol.

This might be a dumb question but what does AP stand for?

Administrative Processing, during the interview/consulate stage, as I'm referring to here. People also use "AP" for Advanced Parole, which is relevant during the AOS stage.

Oh okay thank you, that’s what I thought:) does this usually take a long time (post interview) to receive visa? Just booked my interview last week for April 3rd and We are hoping to have visa in hand by the second or third week so we can move mid April hopefully. Is this timeline unrealistic?

Finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

If you are approved at the interview with no 221g, and move straight through AP with no issues (which is usually like 2 or so days), your visa will take 1-2 weeks to get to you depending on where you live. So really BEST case scenario you'll have the visa MAYBE by the end of the second week of April, or more likely the 3rd week. If there are no errors on your visa, you'll be good to go.

There is really never any telling if things will move this smoothly.

Oh okay I see! What is 221g? Sorry for all the questions!! Thanks so much! We also chose expedited delivery, not sure it will make a difference but I’m hoping so !

You'll get a 221g if the consulate needs any extra information or documents from you. It's kind of like an RFE from the consulate.

I have a question - I keep seeing people post about signing up for "expedited" passport delivery ... Is this different than the "Premium Delivery" you're offered in the interview booking site (usa-visainfo)?

Ooh okay thank you! So many terms and things come up everyday and I want to make sure we don’t miss anything. I appreciate your replies so much! Is your interview in April as well?

Also to try and answer your other question I chose the expedited delivery when I booked my interview on the visa site and I believe they called it premium for $20. So I think it’s the same thing:) not sure if it will make any difference in receiving my passport back but I figured I’d give it a shot:) thanks so much again for your advice and replies:)

No problem! Our interview is March 27.

Been curious about the use of the 2 different terms, because I've seen folks talking about it like it's faster shipping. As far as I know, that option is there so you can have your passport delivered to any address, instead of the specified post office locations. Not aware that it actually speeds up the delivery per se.

oh yes I think you’re right. Because I confused why they tell you to choose a pickup location and then after booking they give you the option to have it delivered “fast”. I also got an email confirming the purchase of premium delivery and it said if it wasn’t delivered in 5 business days then I should contact the embassy.

Hey guys quick question. I emailed the embassy (Montreal) about which documents to provide for domicile and status for US petitioner and they sent me a reply about “how to book my interview” lol which is already done and also wasn’t related to my question at all ahaha but does anyone have advice on which documents we should provide for the interview to show this? My fiancé has lived in the US his whole life and has never lived anywhere else and can provide many documents to prove domicile and status in the USA. So far we have a copy of his passport and birth certificate and income tax returns. Just want to make sure we bring the right ones!  Thanks!!

Ohhh ok! So the first thing they ask is for Premium (the any address one) and then at the end they ask if you want fast delivery? Is the fast option only available WITH premium? Why do they have to make it so confusing?! 🤣 We just got the free delivery so didn't go through any of those steps.

Omg I know, they definitely don’t make anything straight forward throughout this whole process! Lol but yes now that I’m thinking about it I believe the expedited or premium delivery is only so that you can have it delivered instead of picking it up. They definitely made it seem like it would be quicker when I chose the option but I’m sure it’ll take the same amount of time to have them deliver it to the post office as it would to be delivered to an address. Guess I spent an extra $20 for nothing but at least it saves me a trip to the post office I guess ahahah :P

Wow classic montreal response!

Proving domicile is really only for those who aren't currently residing in the U.S. - So everything he hands in, like the tax docs, pay stubs, whatever else, should have a U.S. address on it either way, making it clear he is domiciled here.

IF it makes you feel any better, I'm a USC lifetime/current resident here in the states and I'm still including copies of my voter ID, lease agreement, and utility bills, because I'm afraid of everything... lol. I know they won't be needed at all but whatever 😂

Oh thank you! I think you’re definitely smart for including extra things because better safe than sorry! I would imagine it’s better to be “over” prepared if there is such a thing! I’m the exact same way. I’ll tell my fiancé to give me some of these things as well, just in case. Thanks so much!!:)
