If you got this, you got Packet 4:

......

Thanks! Sorry I freaked out a bit because I couldn't figure out how to navigate that site - that the link to register for an interview is at the bottom left seemed very weird.

I think I've got the hang of it now - thanks so much!

Oh good!!

I feel like everything in this process is designed to be as convoluted and awkward as possible.

Will you please let me know if you get that same canned ambiguous reply?

I got the same generic reply, and they completely ignored the first half of my email to them asking if I need one affidavit of support per family or an individual one per person (myself and 3 K2's)

I'm fairly convinced that they have a bot program macro responses and it just picks something to respond with based on keywords.

Maybe when you respond a second time you'll get a legit human being.

:( I don't think I've ever read so much grief about the Montreal consulate as we have been seeing within this thread. The slow down, and the complete lack of help. It's so deflating. I honestly feel that the USCIS portion was easier than the consulate.

I responded a second time and got the same "it's up to the officer at interview" reply but with the addition of a new similarly robo-sounding paragraph about not making any plans until we have the visa in hand.... which was not relevant AT ALL to my issue. So frustrating.

I replied directly to their email response, saying "thank you for your reply, however that does not answer my first question regarding the I-134 affidavit of support form" and I repeated my question.
Hopefully I will get a response back that's relevant to my question haha

And to think this makes it sound so easy:  https://www.visatutor.com/how-to-extend-your-i-129f-validity/

Annoying AF.

Yeah exactly, and every post about extensions I have ever read on here has always made it seem like no big deal or anything you even needed to be proactive about! Did something change at the consulate in the new year? I feel like I would have read posts before about the ambiguous "maybe we will maybe we won't extend" response brought up before, it seems like it would concern people.... but nothing. Welp, me and my fiance are now discussing booking a March 27th interview and hoping for the best with his Canadian citizenship hold up. Not worth losing the visa & having to start over.

One more question:

In preparation for the interview, it says you need to bring all past passports? Is that really a thing? I don't think my partner still has those around.

Anyone asked about this, or provided this?

Another thing on there of confusion is "The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the period of stay in the United States" -- should we assume that's for actual non-immigrant visas? Packet 3/4 say valid for 6 months beyond the date of arrival in the U.S. ... would this mean 9 months after arrival in the U.S. in this case? I'm more confused than I have ever been.
