Hi Everyone!  My husband had his N400 interview today at the Field Office in Royal Palm Beach, FL.  As our I-751 hadn't been adjudicated, we were unsure what was going to happen today.  As soon as he was called in, they both came back out to get me, so I then knew that we were going to have a combo interview.  The officer was very nice.  We were in there for over an hour and a half, with the bulk of the time dedicated to the 751, and only about 20 minutes for the N400.  Once she approved the 751, she asked me to sit in the back of the office so she could adjudicate the N400.  She spent quite a bit of time going through the questions on the form as well as his work history.  We aren't sure why. The test itself was as we had expected.  He was asked five civics questions, which he answered all correctly:

1.  Why are there more representatives in some states and not others?

2.  Name one state that borders Canada.

3.  How many senators are there?

4.  Who is the current Speaker of the House?  (She was impressed that he got that one right, as not many people do!)

5.  Who is the current Vice President?

He was then dictated to write the following sentence:  Columbus Day is in October.

That was about it.  His status for the N400 has changed to "Notice for Oath Ceremony mailed"!  So we're 95% done!!!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.  You'll get there!!!

That surprised me (that not many people get it right) as her name is only mentioned about 20 times a day in the news.

And it's not like her name is Jones or Smith, so pretty hard to forget.

99% of the time, you will know your Oath date two days after the interview, sometimes the officer gives you a note stating the Oath date right after the interview. I also applied early December, passed my interview on March 15 and still waiting for the bloody Oath Ceremony, this is outrageous. My original date of completion was Nov 2019, now June 2019. It has happened to some, it decreased then increased again I hope to get mine done in June sometimes as there are four bloody ceremonies in the respective month. You should be able to find those dates online as they are available to the public. The government shutdown did not impact USCIS since it's a fee-based branch of the government. Cheers!

Funnily enough, the lady standing behind us at the check in chatted us up because she was nervous awaiting her N400 interview as well.  That was the question she said confused her most too!  So it seems that this may be a common trend in spite of Nancy being in the news so much.  I agree with you, it's kind of difficult not to know her name!

So I had my interview today. The officer had no idea about my pending I-751 and he said he is going to request my I-751 application to be sent to him and approve it later. he did the N400 interview and told me that I I passed the test. He said he will approve my I-751 as soon as he receive the application. Hopefully everything goes smooth.

Hey,

How is your situation? Did you have any update on your I-751 yet?
I saw that you had your N-400 approved but not your I-751 yet, since it wasn't in the local office.
Just asking because I want to know what to expect if the same situation happen to me.

Thanks

My I-751 has been approved before I had my N400 interview so it went smooth. I have heard that if you have N400 interview when I-751 is still pending, they will try to send you home, be sure to bring your spouse with you just in case they want to conduct a combo (I-751 and N400) interview. They cannot conduct N400 while I-751 is still pending, they either have to approve it first then move on to the N400 or do it all at the same time. My I-751 was approved on Feb 26, 2019.

Best of luck!

Yes, I understand that, and my spouse is going with me for my interview...
I just asked GirlPower how her situation is going because she had her N-400 interview but officer didn't have her I-751 at the local office... This is why I asked if she had any update on her I-751.

On the interview date, the officer wasn't convinced my I-751 had been approved, he tried to send me home I showed him the card before he agreed to take me to the interview room. He said his supervisor couldn't approve on the spot since my files weren't in the facility yet (rolling my eyes, I know right?). If they try to send you home, you need to ask for a supervisor, bring your spouse just in case you need to challenge them.

Good luck!

Keep in mind as well that not all field office conduct combo interview. I'm not sure if Chicago field office conduct combo interview so you might want to check and research for that. If you have the interview notice without mentioning about your I-751, I would suggest to do an infopass (if your field office accept infopass) and mention to them that you will have an N-400 interview but you have pending I-751. This way, the IO that will conduct your N-400 will be aware that you have pending I-751, because some IO are lazy enough by not doing thorough background check on applicants case before conducting the interview, there are some VJ member do this, and end up having combo interview.  Good luck!
