February 19, 2019 received letter in US mail that Citizenship interview scheduled for 26 March 2019. 74 days after submission on-line.

March 26, 2019 Citizenship interview scheduled for.  109 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

March 26, 2019 Passed Citizenship interview.

April 12, 2019  Received notice that Oath Ceremony had been scheduled for 24 April 2019.  17 days after interview.

April 24, 2019  Oath Ceremony completed.  29 days after interview.     139 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

April 25, 2019  USA Passport Application submitted.

May 3, 2019     USA Passport received.    149 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

Wife received USA Passport.   So she is officially all done with this lengthy process.

 

24 April 2019 Citizenship  Oath

25 April 2019 11:00 AM  Mailed Passport Application at US Post Office to Philadelphia paying $25.50 for fast mailing outgoing, $16.48 for fast mailing returning and $60 for expedited processing.

26 April 2019  10:45 AM signed for in Philadelphia.

30 April 2019  Check cashed by Philadelphia.

3 May 2019   2:30 PM  Passport special delivered to front door of house.

 

Thinking back, probably the $25.50 was not necessary due to Thursday mailing and Friday receipt.

Chances are nothing done until the following Monday 29 April.

Would be a different story for Mailings on Monday and Tuesday, because then the Passport may be done and mailed back on Friday for receipt on Saturday.

Wow your passport application was pretty quick, in just one week. Do you have upcoming trip? I have my passport application expedited too but the lady at the post office told me it will be 2 to 3 weeks since I don't have upcoming trip yet.

That was the silly part . . . upcoming trip.

We left it blank.

So guy at post office said: No trip planned.

We: Yes she plans to travel.

He: When

We: As soon  as possible.

He: You must put a date here.

We: We can't put a date because we don't know when passport will be in hand.

He: So there are no current plans to travel.

We: No, there are plans.

He: Well then when  is the earliest.

We: Tomorrow, if passport in hand.

He: Just stares at us.

Then, she and I discuss what to do.

Alternative 1.  Put down a date one week away.  But we think maybe then they will just reject application saying it can't be done that soon.

Alternative 2.  Put down a date three weeks away.  But then we think maybe they will just delay processing for a couple of weeks since they have more time . . . all the while ignoring that people have to buy a ticket before the travel date and best prices are for purchase a month or more in advance.

 

We decided to put in a date a month away.

 

And actually we were not surprised to get Passport delivered that fast because 2 friends (new citizens) here in our town told that they did get passport in less than 10 days.

 

However, Post Office guy also told us the Passport would come in 2-3 weeks.

I think  they are told to tell that so that people will not be raising a fuss if it doesn't come in 10 days or so.

 

Still one more hoop for my  wife . . . name change on the passport.

We didn't do that before because at Citizenship Interview, they told her there would be a delay if name change involved.

We didn't want any  delay at that point, so willing to do name change later after her travel for the year done, even as it means paying some more money.

Maybe there are only few people applying for passport on your state, pretty sure a lot in NY specially in the city. 

This US citizenship process is very costly, from N-400 application, passport, renewal of DL and on my case I want to apply fro dual citizen. 

And the fact that you have to spare some time just to do all of these. LOL I can wait to finish all of these so I can rest. LOL

Hi everyone!  We received our interview letter from USCIS yesterday!  May 30 in Royal Palm Beach, FL!  We still have a pending I-751 filed in December 2017.  No mention of that in the letter, but we are preparing for a combo interview.  My husband is going to call customer service and speak to a Tier 2 to make sure both will be adjudicated at the same time.  Ever onward!!!

Where you live or file from is not a factor . . . once the application goes into US Postal mail.

 

All Passport Applications go to Philadelphia.

April 12, 2019  Received notice that Oath Ceremony had been scheduled for 24 April 2019.  17 days after interview.

I called USCIS today and talked to a Tier 2 representative regarding potentially having a combo interview for my N-400 and I-751. She kind of had no idea. she said when the officer is reviewing your N-400, they will decide if they want to have a combo interview or not. I told her that I have to know if it is going to be a combo interview so I can take my husband with me. she said based on the current notice I don't need to have my husband with me. I am going to have my husband with me anyway but It would have been better if we knew what is going to happen on the day of interview instead of just guessing. 

 

BTW, Do they ask all 50 Yes/No questions from our application in the interview?

in my case, it was more on if I have criminal records, if I owed money to the IRS and if I support the US constitution.

Those are the only yes and no questions I was asked.

04/10/2019 : Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.
All in San Diego.
