I truly do feel for you; and know exactly the situation.

 

My wife was one of very last in her ROC group to receive her 10 year Green Card.

We saw dozens who filed much later than her get their 10 year Green Card long before she got hers.

 

So maybe there is some Karma, or some such, that evens these things out.

 

Keep in mind the 'waiting factors' for Citizenship Interview are different than those for ROC.

 

i.e.  ROC was a nationwide system, whereas Citizenship is processed in each local office.

May I ask which one should be difficult the ROC or N400 based on your experience thanks!

The ROC has somewhat more documentation needed compared to N-400.

 

Plus, after you put together all the ROC stuff, you will be better prepared for N-400 because much of it is a repeat or just continuation.

 

So N-400 filing will easier for all, I think.

 

But the other factor is the wait time after filing.

 

For us, the wait time for N-400 was much, much, much shorter than wait time for ROC.

 

For others, they may experience the opposite regarding wait times.

We arrived and were seated 20 minutes ahead of scheduled time.  The interviewing officer called her in 10 minutes later which was 10 minutes before her scheduled time.  She was back out 26 minutes later with a big smile.

 

Officer thanked her for being well prepared and quick with all her answers.  If you answer the first 6 questions correctly (which she did), they stop and don't ask the full 10 questions.  She had to read a 6 word sentence and write a 3 word sentence.   They also checked her teeth and vision (no, just kidding).

 

She did have to say No to  the 100 or so questions (that are on the application), and was even asked a second time about 10 or so of them later.  Just to see if she was consistent, I presume.

Congrats on your wife's approval.  That was fast, 26 minutes!  So you did not have to go in with her?  Did she file based on 3 or 5 year?  I'm just asking because I thought the spouse had to be present during the interview, mine is a week away!

She filed under 3 year rule.  I was there in waiting room with her.  But they only called her in.  However, I have read different stories here.  So best if the US spouse is there in case called in also.

Ah, I see.  He was going with me anyways, but I was under the impression the spouse is always present during the interview.  Thank you for the info!

After being first of our December group to get Citizenship Interview and approval . . . now the disappointment of hearing nothing about scheduling for Citizenship Oath.

 

I read here in other threads that some got their schedule notification via email before they reached the parking lot after their successful interview.

 

However, I also read where some are still waiting after 2 months or more; and some even for 2+ years.

 

This is really screwing up wife's plans to buy plane ticket to home country, where she hasn't been for 2 years.

Interview went very well and I was approved!  Husband ended up staying home with the little one, and she didn't even ask where he was.  She said I will receive a letter in 30 days with the oath information.

I read here in other threads that some got their schedule notification via email before they reached the parking lot after their successful interview.

 

However, I also read where some are still waiting after 2 months or more; and some even for 2+ years.

 

This is really screwing up wife's plans to buy plane ticket to home country, where she hasn't been for 2 years.

Oh my, 2+ years?!  Wonder why that is.  I'm hoping to hear within 30 days like the IO said.  I also would like to go visit my family, haven't been there myself for over two years now.  I'm still getting the "no action has been taken on your case yet" emails, even after I received the interview notice.  So I cannot go off of the online system.

Naturalization:

12/13/18: File online application

12/15/18: Receive notification for biometrics appointment (no date)

12/31/18: Biometrics

02/25/19: Receive interview letter (April 8 )

04/08/19: Interview, approved!

04/12/19: Oath scheduled for April 26 

04/26/19: Oath Ceremony! 🇺🇸

July 24, 2017  ROC packet signed for in Vermont.

August 8, 2017  NOA received at house.  15 days since ROC signed for in VSC.

August 12, 2017 ASC appointment received. 19 days since ROC in VSC.

August 25, 2017 BIO completed. 32 days since ROC received in VSC.

August 11, 2018  18 month 'Courtesy Copy' extension letter received.  Critical number  297

October 20, 2018 18 month 'Official' extension letter received.  Critical number 297

December 4, 2018  USCIS Account shows: We approved your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, 

December 4, 2018, ordered your new card for Receipt # EAC17297003XX, and will mail to the address you gave.

491 days from NOA issued by VSC until Petition approved.

December 7, 2018 USCIS sent notice:  Card mailed.

December 12, 2018 Ten year Green Card received from Lees Summit, MO

499 days from NOA issued by VSC until Green Card received.

CITIZENSHIP PROCESS

December 6, 2018 submitted N-400 application on-line.  Estimated Completion Time: 8 months or August 2019.

December 8, 2018 received notice on USCIS that Biometrics scheduled . . . but the actual date was not yet shown.

December 11, 2018 saw in 'Documents' section of USCIS that Bio scheduled for 24 December 2018.

December 21, 2018 saw on USCIS website that they will be closed 24 December 2018 as extra holiday.

January 9, 2019 went for re-scheduled BIO appointment.  33 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

February 19, 2019 received letter in US mail that Citizenship interview scheduled for 26 March 2019. 74 days after submission on-line.

March 26, 2019 Citizenship interview scheduled for.  109 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

March 26, 2019 Passed Citizenship interview.

April 12, 2019  Received notice that Oath Ceremony had been scheduled for 24 April 2019.  17 days after interview.

April 24, 2019  Oath Ceremony completed.  29 days after interview.     139 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

April 25, 2019  USA Passport Application submitted.

May 3, 2019     USA Passport received.    149 days after N-400 submitted on-line.

May 9, 2019     Certificate of Naturalization and Citizenship returned in mail.
