Hi all,

I searched for this info but I can't find it. I would like to know when my fiancee arrives on her K-1 visa when can we get married? I was looking at my county's website and they said they need a social security number for marriage but won't this take quite some time?

As far as I know, you can get married the day she arrives if you can get the paperwork. Any day just as long as it´s within 90 days of her arrival.

My locality also said they needed an SS# to get married; however, we called the office and they said that just his passport would do. Try speaking to a human being on this one.

You can get married as soon as you can get a marriage license! Good luck

It depends on the state you live in. Some states required a social security number before you can apply for the marriage license. Luckily I live in a state that does not require a social so a week or two after he gets here we are getting hitched!

Yeah, talk to a live person about SSN requirements for marriage licenses. The county we are in also required SSN but we could submit an affidavit stating we do not have one in lieu of the SSN.

Some counties/states (Howard County, MD for example) require only ONE of the parties to be present to get a marriage licence (I'd checked into this some time ago, before it was overruled by Bro. Joe--who wanted both licence and wedding to be done in MI) which would eliminate the need for the foreign fiancé(e) to have an SSN.

Fortunately for me Oakland County, MI (which requires BOTH parties to be present for licence) also doesn't require SSN.
