I already received courtesy letter for making a new medical record. I will do it immediately after i get interview notice. My lawyer suggests me to follow this schedule. It takes only around a week for madical record. We will take it along to our interview, do not open envolope of the medical result.

That is what my lawyer said too, not to go medical until we get interview appointment set.

Hi,

Thanks for the info here.It is very helpful to many including me.

So here is my case,

I got married to a US citizen.

He was financially and emotionally abusive.

We got separated but not yet divorced.

The marriage is not working.

We currently live in different states.

He never filed for me.

Can I get help through Vawa?

Will really appreciate if someone here can help me.

Thanks in advance.

You will need to prove that you were abused. You should attend 5/7 therapy sessions and have a psychological evaluation done and if you have a diagnose of depression and/or PTSD then you might prove abuse, and you have to prove that entered into the marriage in good faith as well.

Who issued the letter for the medical exam was the NBC. You have to check the timeline of your local office to know when you are going to have the AOS interview.

Do you mind sharing your timeline?

Did you check local office near where you live? Chicago is reviewing May 23 2017 I485’s you must scrolled to find local office.

Could anyone with helpful information please chip in. I'm filing taxes using Turbo tax and I have a pending VAWA and AOS. Which residency option should I tick; non resident alien or resident alien?

Actually Its my first time doing all this and I'm confused because I read that you can be a resident for tax purposes even without a green card. However, I'm concerned if just ticking the most obvious option "non resident alien" could later on land me in trouble because IRS have a different way of processing info for tax purposes. @sandranj @gramercy and other members with helpful info pls help here. TIA

You are a non-resident alien. IRS considers for tax purpose one of the two things, if you have a GC or if you are living in the U.S during the current year for at least 31 days and  183 days in the past 2years.
