No, I never got my name updated. I submitted all paperwork with my own last name and legal court document with my own last name. I had all documents in order since day 1.

Have you tried to go to the courthouse of your county, usually they have a help center and can assist you for free?

Courthouse? I'm getting different information. Some say community center, crisis center, etc. I have to make sure I go to the right place because I don't have a single cent in my pocket :(

In the state of Maryland in the courthouse there is a department the family center where they assist you with legal advices and if you need help regarding immigration help. Where do you live?

1-800-33-HAVEN (1.800.334.2836)

The Georgia domestic violence hotline is an extensive telephone routing system to Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) certified shelters. Calls to the hotline are automatically connected to the caller’s nearest certified shelter based on the caller’s telephone number exchange. Calls may be made 24 hours a day from anywhere in the state as well as from outside of Georgia from any phone line. Programs accepting calls have access to language interperter services.

This is what I used as a guide to gather documents.  Some statements maybe outdated, but you learn and understand the basics.

The system update that says something along the lines of 'your name updated' is a generic update and does not necessarily mean they altered your name in the system. It just means someone touched something in your file- maybe it was moved, maybe it was opened, maybe they added a code in the computer- it could be anything but its NOTHING IMPORTANT. Its very silly for them to use the 'name updated' status on the online system because its misleading but its how they do it.

I submitted marriage cert. our birth cert. and our IDs showing the same address.

Were that all you submitted?? Didn’t you submit joint bank accounts and good moral character with affidavits from people who knew about the abuse and like things you have or share together on both of your names and your own personal statement about how the abuse took place with psychological evaluation
