Do you have the receipt number? Check your status online. Or file an Infopass appt or file an e-request? I think that timeline exceeds the estimated time range. Consult with a professional about your options.

When I checked status online it doesn't change only they received the case that's all .

Okay Perfect .

Good you understand my question and my concern about .

They will send letter for denied , Okay let say I am in removal processing they will send me letter Denied 765 . On that Denied letter they let me know that I am in removal and that's why they denied 765 ?

Call this number: 1-800-898-7180 and put in your A#. If it says there is no record, then you aren't in removal. When you are in removal they will send you a Notice of Appear.

Don't depend on case status updates from their website. It's not current. I suggest that you schedule an appt with Infopass https://my.uscis.gov/en/appointment/us . Since you received your notice by mail, I think your case might be outside the normal processing time. You said you applied for the c9 category rather than the c31 category. Find out more  information here: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt

I agree. Mine says “Fingerprint review completed” since August. I think it’s better you do infopass or ask help from your congressman or senator. @xoxox

If you travel you can print out I-94 page (just in case they will see the stamp on your passport)

Any necessary documents you may think they will ask is better to be prepare than missing something Good luck.

Letter should not be a problem, but if you feel comfortable not asking just take your W2s and income!

While I have an attorney, I did the majority of the work by myself.  Attorneys are human, they can forget or make mistakes like anyone else. It's critical that you read over and review your documents before filing. Everyone should take the time to document things properly and make it a priority -  documentation is key. Also, another tip is to continue to document and keep track of any abusive behaviour by your ex, especially if you have a child/children with him/her. Sandra, I think you should ask for payment up front but also offer a sliding scale option for those who need it, especially given your track record. Otherwise, it's not fair to you either. There are many attorneys who take fees from clients but don't do the work. There was one particular attorney who I had a consultation with who asked for 50% payment upfront, then when I asked if I can file asap, he said I have to wait till divorce is finalized. I had my doubts so I told him to give me some time to think about it first. When I did some research by myself, I learned that this information is incorrect. I never called him back. There are a number of cases where immigration attorneys fleece clients or have their licenses suspended or are even disbarred. It's important for your to learn, do your own  research and invest some time in preparing your immigration case, instead of just relying on your attorney.

Thanks. I will continue giving information here without charging. I am doing this for 13 years on VJ but some Visa members have my phone number and they are giving my number and people are calling me to ask questions about VAWA ,to ask me to review the affidavits and they have attorneys, to talk with the psychologist ,some called to ask about divorce. I am not a family attorney.I just ask for those who have  my number  to give  my number just if the person is looking to hire an attorney. One visa journey member  had the audacity to  ask me if i have a sister to introduce to him,I said  #######.

I work  12/13 hours per day ,usually Saturday I review Vawa cases without charging any fees but besides these things I don’t want to ruin my weekend with phone calls.

Hello everyone I just need clarification as I am confused. I even searched on Avvo.com and said that it doesn't matter if you file under c9 or c31. What is really the difference? I filed on my own as I don't have means to pay a lawyer. I filed under c31 category (i360, i765, i485, i131 altogether) and my ex husband is a US citizen. In my understanding in some of the threads under c31 I will wait until i360 is approved before I can get an EAD approved? Is this correct? Should I have filed under c9 to get EAD while pending i360?

Also I received prima facie, what are the public benefits I can avail? I could use some help as it is a real struggle :( Thank you all in advance.

You can file under category C9 if you have a pending l485.

You will get your EAD just  after Vawa approval because you filed under C31 category . The information that you got from Avoo is wrong.

Uscis Will not inform in the l765 that you are in removal proceedings, who informs about removal is the officer that denied your AOS.

We have the same opinion, I hope they put mine on hold if i do the interview before my vawa is approve..  One more question Sandra, My EAD was sent by mistake to NBC do you recommend to resend a new I765 application to Vermont..

Do not file a new l765 because  they will forward to Vermont,it will take a while tho.
