Hi everyone,

I attended my interview today everything went well. I did not take my lawyer to me.

The interview lasted about 10 minutes I was sworn in and finger printed then asked to confirm my name. My medical and passport was checked and I was asked some yes or no questions from the i485 form. She never mentioned the abuse, marriage etc. she did ask if I was divorced and took a copy of the divorce decree.

After the above she told me I was approved and my GC will be sent to my Lawyer’s office. Within 5 minutes I received an update that my card was being produced.

I am so elated that the process is over. I wish you all the very best...and thank you to everyone for your support.

Congratulations your troubles and long waiting is finally over. Enjoy your new chapter in your life. 👏👏👏👏

This journey has transformed me and appreciated all the sacrifices that we have gone through. Through all the challenges, I have always been reminded that it's not only about surviving the violence. It's also about the strength of character. There's always a rainbow at the end of the tunnel. Always listen to your guts. If something is not right, walk away. Sometimes the red flags are obvious but we try to ignore. To God Be the Glory! Bless us all!

I am so much grateful I chanced upon this forum. My vow is to help in anyway I can. And if my journey can help to share, just let me know. My timeline below. Detailed journey coming soon. Thanks.

Jan2019 traveled with AP (2weeks)
Feb 7 notice of AOS Interview on Feb 26, 2019 (6mos from 360 approval)

On this very special day, I am praying for the great weather, for the officer who will handle the interview, for the traffic, for my energy and stamina. Shed buckets of tears. Heart broken, penniless, jobless, homeless, a child to take care of, traumatized by DV, and going thru divorce filed by ex thinking I could be deported if I became unmarried. Plus the continuous bullying by calling our friends to stop communicating with me. But I have rose above my circumstances victoriously. I have prepared myself so much for this day to come. Mind , body, soul. Thanks for your support and prayers.

This story just brought me to tears thinking about my own life. He's taken everything from me and my journey is just starting, I'm worried, I'm scared, but I have faith in God. Thank you for sharing your journey, may God bless you abundantly.  People can be evil and they think we'll get deported, but God has the final plan for us.

Pls may anyone help me with template on how to request for a police clearance from my country? I don't know how to go about it. Thanks.

@victorycoming what country are you trying to request it from?

There is 2 ways you can do this depending on your country.

1. You can have someone inside (family member or friend) the country go to the police headquarters and get one for you. Of course you'll have to mail them a signed notarized letter to act on your behalf

2. Locate your country consulate general website if they have one and follow the instructions provided.

I used option 2 because I'm from Jamaica and there a consulate office in Miami that provided clear instructions on their website.

@Victorycoming  Hey I’m from Jamaica and I use the 1st option that Jonshai is talking about. You will need to get a fingerprint done “I did mine at the State Trooper Office for $5 a copy”, photocopied my passport page for ID purposes then your gonna write a note stating what you want the background check for including the USCIS office it’s suppose to go to.  Then your gonna get it notorized and send it to a family member or friend so they can get it for you. I assume some countries are different but that’s how I did mine. Hope it helps or give you an idea.

As Trizzle said. First thing to do is go to your local police station and get a FULL SET of fingerprints done. Some police stations give you the finger print sheet but mine didn’t. I got it from me lawyer. Check with them.

Secondly, you will need two recent (2) pass port size photos

Thirdly a certified copy of your passport page. This means that you have to get it notarized

Fourth, write a cover letter explaining why you want the police clearance (I’ll send you a copy of mine if you need it)

Lastly, do not forget that there is a fee attached to doing this. I have no clue how much it will be in Nigeria

We can walk you through on the how to's. There will be days you wanted to give up. But just take a rest and recharge. Try to start with a good habit each day, and help others around you who could be more helpless than you are. It worked for me and the self gratification priceless.

I remained private with this journey. Started with new friends and they never knew my past. I wanted a clean slate. So no one will judge.

I know what you mean. I keep to myself, I don't talk about it to anyone, I feel alone most days even with counseling, but I pray and that's my peace. I'm trying not to think about all the negative things that could happen and all the negative things he's doing to me, but some days it's really really hard. Thank you though for sharing with me. I read this forum everyday for hope and strength.
