I'm finding this wait for the EAD very difficult! My receipt date was December 13 and my biometrics appointment in Detroit was January 7. I haven't heard anything since then and I know that the wait can be as long as 7 months. What is everyone doing to help pass the time?

My receipt date is the same as yours! I'm a professional musician so I'm spending a lot of time practicing (as usual), and also cooking a lot more than usual...I got a bike and am enjoying having the freedom to get around the city (we don't have a car). I'm also teaching at a local English school that is entirely run by volunteers. That's fun because all of my students are in the middle of some kind of immigration process themselves! Look for opportunities to get out of the house and meet people other than your spouse so you two don't drive each other too crazy :) And then enjoy spending time together too! The time will pass soon enough...

Received this letter in the mail today.

I arrived in the States on 11/02/18

I applied for a SSN on 11/15/18

Went back to the SSA twice on 12/20/18 and 01/07/19. Both times they told me that my application was still pending.

SAVE chase status said that my case was back at my local office long time ago.

My I-94 expired on 01/30/19.

Gosh I am so over this, what shall I do?

Try to fight it?

We received this same letter a week BEFORE my husband's 1-94 expired. I was so frustrated to know they had time to review, and send this letter, but not enough time to "issue a SSN" ***shrugs** So, same boat as you. 😫 We just wait now.

We have the same dates.... mine says "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview" for the I-485 and "case was Received" for EAD, no changes in these two at all since Dec13th.

I am in NJ, my office is Newark,, let's pray for the best because it does feel like a path uphill at time!  :-S

I am keeping busy with online classes, it helps me.

I have read on this group That when update to “case is ready to be scheduled for an interview” it is means that they sent your case to the local oficial, in your case to Newark. And then, you play the game to waiting in the line to be scheduled the interview”.  This is one of the most important updates.  Now your case iit is an local office. Finger crossed and good luck.

Since I did the biometric, on 1/17/18, I didn’t get any update and it freak me out. I wish at least received my EAD.

My status stayed on "finger print fee received" for more than 90 days, it changed to "ready to schedule" 2 months after the biometrics, and the "Interview was scheduled status" came the next day. The status system is not reliable, delays in the status updates are very common.

If they cashed your payment and you did the biometrics you'll be alright. Tampa seems to have a pretty decent waiting time, you might have news by April maybe.

I did the biometrics on 1/17/19.

I saw on USCIS’s web about the processing time it’s 8 moths or so. And, I know that isn’t long wait.

However, I would like start work ASAP.

For my office it was originally from 8 to 23.5 and went up to 9 to 31.5. But I still got my interview scheduled after 3 months. I know it varies for each individual, but I've seen a lot of people with K-1 visa and offices like yours getting their interviews quick.

Unfortunately, I’m from B2 it is concerning a little bit.

Anyway, I need wait I don’t have another option.

Question: did you received your ead or did you go straight to the interview?

No EAD, it's only been 3 months I applied and EAD nowadays takes almost 6 months.

Another member adjusted from a  B-2 at the same office I do and the processing time difference between the B2 and the K-1 is maybe 3 weeks or a month.

It’s great news. I thought that the processing time was bigger.

6 months is a long waiting for a ead.

Finger crossed everything is going well and then 2021 we are Backing to the wait game

My husband didn't get his social security in time either.  We will wait now until he receives his EAD,  In the meantime, I am so proud to say that he is taking a GED course and on Tuesday will be starting a course to obtain certification in refrigeration and air conditioning through a local BOCES Tech school.  The GED is FREE and they are paying 90% of his certification!!!! He will be finished right in time to receive his EAD.  I think that is a great use of this horrible wait time!!!!
