As promised, I was about to go to SSA to do a follow up but then my SS card arrived in the mail, though it says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" does this mean I cannot use this to apply for  a driver's license?

No it means you will have to provide your EAD in combination with your SSN to work. DL is irrelevant but you can get it with both of those too.

Thanks. The SS card I received is my maiden name, can I change it to my married name without the EAD/green card?

No, your visa is indifferent. Everything depends on your local office.

Silly questin but how do you really know where is the local office that your papers are being processed? Is it somewhere in the NOAs?

I got it. However, if we are applying for AOS to the same office, people who got in USA on K1 visa get the CG fast then B2 holders?

Initially K1 AOS applications are processed at the NBC in MO. When the application becomes "ready to be scheduled" etc it is then sent to your local Field office. You can find your LFO here by inputting your Zip code:

https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices

Then you can check the estimated pricessing times of your LFO by inputting I485 and your LFO here:

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Officially, no. Statistically, yes. That seems to be the trend.

Hi all,

My husband's biometrics appointment is this Friday 1/25. I was wondering, once that's done, what do we wait on? Is there a site to check the status once biometrics are done, what is the status supposed to say, etc.? I'm expecting an RFE because I didn't send out duplicate copies of certain forms as I didn't know the forms would be sent to different locations. *shrugs*

I tried adding our 3 case #'s to my account, but I as well am getting the "try again later" message.

I guess my question is, (after biometrics) what should we wait for? mail? status change online? interview date?

Mailing of the interview notice is the most reliable.

status change online? The case status updates are shotty at best so dont rely on it.

You can check the processing times for your local FO here by inputting I485 and your LFO:

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

That is your best guesstimate of how long you will have to wait if by chance your case never gets updated on a status check site.

If you dont know your LFO you can check that here by inputting your Zip code:

https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices

Keep in mind that registration on myUSCIS is not instantaneous. It can take a couple of days. That website was down for maintenance this past weekend too so many have been having problems accessing their account.
