Honestly im not sure regarding Bank accounts - ive read some threads on these forums that certain banks say no, others allow to add a spouse without an SSN (were adding my name to my husbands bank accounts tomorrow)

It totally depends on the bank whether or not a SSN is required. Shop around if you get denied.

Also, im glad you mention about SSA should atleast send a denial letter, ive not had one either so im hoping this doesnt affect getting an SSN when i have my EAD 😕

I too will have to wait for EAD for SSN. Its a pain! ( However I didn't file for it before we got married , lawyer took control ) so I guess I sit and wait!

Got our biometrics appointment rescheduled from 12/24 to 1/7. Husband was third in line, in and out in less 15 minutes. Received notice this morning that his fingerprints had been processed.

 

Now we play the waiting game...

Just been to my husbands bank, cant add me because no SSN.. I knew it would happen.

 

The ongoing fiasco with SSA continues 🙄

 

Nothing more frustrating than doing everything by the book & still having a problem at the end.

Going to inquire with another bank for sure... really hoping this isnt going to affect my AOS interview when it gets to that point... as proof of relationship 😕

Is your husbands bank a regional little one? If so, I suggest you go to a bigger one, like Tdbank. I successfully opened an account (with my husband as primary account holder) with them a few years back. I had the ssn but they wouldn’t take it cause I wasn’t a resident yet so they filled it out with 0 or something for the time being and had me do a w8ben form (I guess that’s the right number for the form) 

 

I wouldn’t be too worried about your interview proof for now, and remember that the best proof is having you and your husband together in front of the officer. If you’re real, you can do it!

Yeah its his city’s own bank!

They added my name to his account but i cant withdraw anything/acess it until i get a SSN 😕

 

Your absolutely right, we havent got any red flags, plenty of photos (wedding photos too with family), hoping to be renting our own apartment by end of Summer, were staying at his parents to save up for time being

Them little ones don’t really get different customers so they don’t know how to act, although that’s understandable, it’s exhausting to deal with. You tried and keep that in your records, it’s one thing to show in case you’re asked. 

If you can, and that will be good for roc later on as well, get a signed affidavit from your in laws stating you guys are staying there since date xxx, and how that’s agreed between you. 

 

Its understandable to not have much right away and you can always build proof with time.

I know it’s difficult, as your life seems to be in a state of unknown, but hear me out, I had a lot less and I was worried sick for the interview (I got one and everyone else had being waived interviews)  and it ended up being a lot better than expected. You’ve got each other and whatever life throws at you, you can do it!

Thank you for your really kind & reassuring response, its appreciated  I am a natural worrier anyway (own worst enemy lol)

Thats a great idea about a signed affidavit for my in-laws, they love us living here (we all get on really well but obviously would love our own place once i can work) so i will definitely ask them to write one for us

It really is exhausting because SSA have been useless.. i applied 2 weeks after arrival back in October 2018, took all my documents, told me id be sent for manual verification & could take 6-8 weeks (which is fine) & then i checked USCIS SAVE & on the 26th November 2018 i was verified & my case was sent back to Maryland SSA (HQ?) - i kept ringing the lady at my local SSA office & she told me i was 'still in progress' & passed my case onto her colleague who is more 'knowledgable in these special cases'.. i was told they would call me on 9th Jan 2019 (my I-94 expired on 10th Jan) & she didnt.. so im sick & tired of chasing them. I will now just forget about it & wait until i get my EAD & re-apply for an SSN from there

 

Thank you again  it truly is this weird limbo state, i just want to get on with our lives together, cant wait for all the immigration stages to be over with!
