Yup and nothing you can do. SSA is a pile of horsesh_t.

Did they do the same thing to you? I hope they can send me at least a rejection letter, so I can show that...I need the SSN for everything.

Hi Guys! I just called the SSN office and they said because now I'm out of status (01/09) they can't issue me a card. The save case website said that they received an answer way before my I-94 expired and now the SSN are claiming they didn't, so that means I have to wait until my EAD arrives which is BS. Have you guys encountered any case like mine? Do you know what to do next? This is so frustrating! 🤬

In the exact same situation as you, ive said it previously in this thread but ill quote myself; “SSA are about as useful as a chocolate teapot”

Honestly, it was nothing hut 10 weeks of unessacery stress & a waste of my time trying to get them to help me.

Dont worry too much, just make sure you can get on your spouses health insurance atleast!!! (My husbands said.”requires SSN” but we had no issue having me added without one)

You "should" get the update "case is ready to be scheduled etc" when it has been transferred your LFO.

I "should". Okay. lol

I guess I just wait then. Thank you though. :)

My SSN came late in December 14 days before my K1expired. I went that same day to the local SSA and the officer told me he can change my name and that there is no rule for not applying until last 14 days. Guess what? HE WAS WRONG😤. Today, I received a letter saying I have been denied a name change on a new SSN because I had 14 days until my k1 expired.😑

Waiting for my EAD/AP now.:dead:

I agree. I'm already under his health insurance but I think in order to open bank accounts we might need my SSN?? Not sure.

Seattle waiting times are crazy. I remember we had the same Biometrics day so I will let you know if my case status change.😬

He was wrong. The name on your SSN has to match the name DHS has for you in their system. Some agents will break that rule even though it's not theirs to break. And most definitely, a SSN can only be issued if you still have legal status. They can process it up until day 90 but more often than not, they will not because your legal status is about to expire.

What they MUST do though is issue a denial letter regardless of your status is expired or not. In my case, they have not done that which is why I'm livid.

Biometrics appointment scheduled for Jan 25.  A couple of questions.  In addition to my wife, her kids also received appointments (K2 ages 10 and 9).  I thought only children 14 and over were required to do biometrics.  Does anyone have any experience?  Also, I will be coming back from an overseas trip on that day.  Since she still cannot obtain her drivers license, she was going to Uber over to the USCIS office.  She noticed that she cannot bring her cell phone with her.  Again, any experience where she needs the cell phone in order to order Uber?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

For children under 14 they only request a photo. For my daughter, who is 4,  that's all they did.

I was expecting him to be wrong after reading all others' experiences with SSN. He gave me high hopes. Oh well, at least he didn't take my SSN card.

THAT IS CRAZY! They should have sent a denial letter by now. Maybe you will get the interview and green card faster!☺️

With mine i applied way before my I94 expires. i actually applied for my name to be changed to my married name bc i already have a ssn before. DHS says that they were not able to confirm my legal status. So i went to SSA to clarify everything but they cant reprocess it again bc my I94 is about to expire. Got no other choice but to just wait 🤔😥
