Thanks you so much for your prompt response @K1visaHopeful.

Yes, that's what I did as well (my I-94 expires on Feb 9th). They accepted my docs (mc, passport, I-94) without asking for anything else, and that's why when the lady on the phone mentioned something about gc, I was in doubt. O well, will see what's going to happen.

This is so frustrating :( I have a SSN from 2014 and originally thought that the name change will be super easy, then I will get my driver's license and will be set with my American ID. Oh well 🙈I read on VJ that some local offices need "just" EAD/AP card, perhaps you can try a different office once you have it? I will definitely try then and keep you in loop :)

I tried in NJ, after two lines and checking of my documentation I was told I have to wait for my EAD to apply since after marriage K-1 is no longer valid, even when I had one more month left on my I-94. I will try other MVD office though.

Okay so I called again today, asked for somebody higher and this is the same thing she told me. When she asked for my reference number she said that i'm no longer k1 and that i need to wait for my greencard to get SSN. It's so frustrating. I've been getting different answers with my situation. 😓

Hi everyone!:)

Went for my biometrics today in Milwaukee, WI. Came at 8-55 ( scheduled for 9-00). They let me in, but husband had to stay outside. Very limited sitting area ( around 20 chairs).

I was number 32, filled up my paperwork ( weight, height, etc) and after 1,5 hours was called in to do biometrics. They took my photo ( I asked to do it again as i didnt like the first picture lol). Then scanned all the fingerprints. Lady was laughing that my fingerprints sooo good and clear and I should stay away from the troubles. 🤣

VERY friendly staff!

They asked me to rate their service, handled the rest of the paperwork and wished good luck. Very pleasant experience.

Please, make sure to bring your marriage certificate if your ID on your maden name, but you filled paperwork for married name and dont have new ID yet. Photo of your marriage certificate on your phone won’t work. One lady had to go home for her marriage certificate.

I applied for SSN on 25th October 2018 after entering the US on 24th October 2018 with K-1 visa; local SSA office told me i required 'manual verification' before they could issue my SSN which may take up to 4 weeks.

No SSN after 4 weeks so i've been going into the SSA office every week, each time they tell me it continues to show a "mismatch" although their advice is conflicting depending on each officer and they just advise to "wait another week and call in again". It's now been 10 weeks and still no SSN and my case status continues to show a "mismatch".

I've had 3 separate cases inputted onto SAVE casecheck (25th October 2018, 21st November & 31st December 2018) and each one has shown "Case Returned to Agency"

I'm so frustrated with the process, i rang USCIS who directed me to SAVE CaseCheck via this contact number; (877) 469-2563. I spoke to a SAVE analyst who advised me that the contact number is for agency personal only but would look into my case. He advised me that the original SAVE case (25th October 2018) appeared successful and couldn't understand why SSA keep submitting "new cases".

I returned to the SSA this morning and explained all the above. They advised me that my case status remains to show a "mismatch" but refused to call SAVE CaseCheck to try work out what is causing the mismatch. I've found the SSA to be incredibly unhelpful and i'm now beyond frustrated with the whole experience.

Unfortunately i don't have any advice to people struggling with the same problem as all my research and efforts didn't appear to make a slight bit of difference. In hindsight i would maybe have waited a week or so before I applied and try to avoid "manual verification" as it appears a nightmare!!

Sounds like they are just passing off your file to a new agent because the previous one went in holidays and they are starting fresh each time by putting your info into the system to see if perhaps your info changed with DHS (like your info DHS has is supposed to be wrong....but it isnt).

Have you talked to a Supervisor at your local SSA office instead of just an agent?

Your case is indeed sitting in their office because your SCC status wouldnt lie.

I'm at 9 weeks too.

I'm unsure if i've spoke to a supervisor or not because any time i've asked to speak to a senior manager or supervision the agent has gone into the back office and returned to say they the information and advice is no different from what they are telling me..?

I spoke to an individual who i was informed is "responsible" for my case not sure if he is a supervisor (he kept repeating that he is waiting for a response from DHS to allow him to process the verification EVEN though SCC tells me the case has been returned to SSA). He said the previous 2 cases had "failed" although the SCC analyst told me that cases don't simply "fail" they just require additional documentation to complete the verification.

My i-94 expires on 21st January 2019 so the SSA agent told me that unless DHS replies to SSA and allows them to approve it before 7th January 2019 then i would have to wait until my application for employment authorisation (i-765) is completed.

I hope you have better luck in receiving your SSN before i-94 expires!!

Mine is already long expired. That's not my issue really. My issue is they are required to issue me a denial letter which I can use in lieu of the card in the mean time for some services.

Keep us updated!

Im in the same boat as you too 😕

week 9, almost 10 for me

My I-94 expires on the 10th January - i have officially given up calling my SSA office, they keep saying my verification came back on the 26th Nov (which is what SAVE says, i checked) yet their computer in SSA office says “in progress”

They are about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Hi!! Biometrics appointment on January 15 in Cincinnati, OH! We were surprised since we live in Lexington, KY and the field office for the whole state of Kentucky is the Louisville one! But both cities are about the same distance so it's no problem !!

Aww! So lovely..💓💓

I'm really good, a lil bored, but trying different things to keep busy, but relieved of the crazy distance. At least, I can scream at my hubby in the face now and not through electronics. Lol!😂😂

I hope for the interview too, but really based on state/service office. Many cents/states get theirs within 2 months while some like Chicago around 11months. So ridiculous.. Well, I really need the EAD/AP now, they can then take their time with AOS
