Your biometrics appt usually takes place within one month of your PD. You can expect a hardcopy of the appt notice in the mail anytime between that.

Thank you!

They're open because USCIS is funded by our application fees. I had my biometrics appointment yesterday and everything is working as usual.

Thank you. :)

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a happy Christmas.

I have my biometrics appointment at the ASC in Seattle on Monday (Dec 31st).

Do you confirm me that the ASC are open and not affected by the government shut down (if it is still on)?

Thank you

I have same day appointment, at 8am.  I am sure it will be open.

My appointment for biometrics was on 12/24/2018 but as we know, it was a holiday for USCIS so the offices were closed. Hubby and I tried walking in today and the field officers accepted me and did the biometrics without any hassle. I did not wait for the USCIS to mail me another schedule. I just brought with me the appointment letter, our MC and passport. It went smoothly and fast. Took me only 10 mins for the entire process. Soooo, biometrics done and will go through the waiting game again. Hopefully, will received my interview appointment and EAD combo the soonest😊😊😊

Hello December Filers! AOS, AP and EAD filed on December 11. Got NOA1 on December 17. No update as of the moment. How long does the Biometrics schedule usually takes place?

what is PD?

Priority Date or in the case of applicants who dont have a PD, your NOA1 Receipt Date.

I see. How is priority date different from the NOA1 I mean who gets the PD instead of NOA1?

PD is given to those Visa classes who have to wait line for a Visa to become available to them. One example: certain Visa types have a cap of how many are issued per year. Once that cap is reached that visa applicant will have to wait until the next year for their petition to continue to process. Sometimes they have to wait years. The Priority Date is what holds your place in the line. PD is also issued when a immigration benefit is being applied for based on the approval of a previous or currently processing underlying petition that needs to be approved before the second immigration benefit can begin processing.

In terms of K1 visa holders it just refers to the NOA1 Receipt Date but because this thread encompasses ALL AOS applicants who filed in December (not just K1s like me and you), we can use the very common term of PD which means exactly the same.

In saying that, ensure that when you are posting questions in this thread or from this point on, you refer to your original K1 status so as to get responses tailored to you and your original K1 status. We can't assume the procedure and answers are all the same for different Visa classes.

Update on our saga. We first sent our AOS package in Nov and had to re-submit in Dec, because the date on our check was wrong. We re-sent our package with Fedex Dec 17th, it was delivered Dec 18. Still no NOA1. I called USCIS today and they said they don't have anything on my file about us re-sending the package. They created some kind of request on my behalf to look into why they don't have it. Takes up to 30 days.

I'm just so frustrated. I've been here since October and the fact that we still don't have a NOA1 after all this work is beyond me.

Yeah. Right now there is even an alert on the USCIS website. ASCs will be open.

See you there then :)
