Walked into a NYC area center to get my biometrics done this morning. My appointment was supposed to be next Monday in Virginia but this was convenient as we were here visiting family. Initially it was very busy, but the officer was very nice and said to try returning after lunch. I went back at 1pm and spent a total of 20 mins there. Got my photo taken and fingerprints, and now it's time to wait some more.... :) Overall a good experience with the "walk-in."

We are Florida Applicants! :) Happy Holidays everyone

We filed i-130 and only month later filed AOS Package (i-485, I-864, i-765).

November 30, 2018: i-130 Received

December 16, 2018: AOS package (i-485, I-864, i-765) Mailed

December 19, 2018: Received (Chicago Lockbox)

Still No Receipt for i-485. How long does it usually take to get form to be assigned receipt number?

Thank you! We are experiencing family emergency, and our field office was kind to assist us, however without pending i-485 not much can be done! I pray it gets to be assigned in system tomorrow... Can't sleep/eat/anything ..... Once forms reach Lockbox and until they are assigned number nothing can be done to expedite it. Called Tier 1&2 reps, sent emails to Lock Box... Worst Holiday season for our family so far

For anyone doing their biometrics appointment.  Make sure you bring your marriage license/certificate with you.  It is not on the lists of things to bring, but it was definitely needed for my wife when we went as they seen her last name was different on the biometrics appointment letter then on her passport.  They really should add that as an optional item to bring as I am sure some people do forget about that.

Good point! They only needed my letter and my passport as I didn't change my name :)

they didn't ask for it. The staff there really have no clue what they are doing, I had a different issue and none of the staff knew how to solve it. go figure.

Well if we didn't have ours I believe we would of been turned away and not allowed to do the biometrics appointment.  The guy at the front was like her name on the biometrics appointment letter does not match the passport.  So we told him we got married and she changed her last name. So he then asked for the marriage license/certificate.  He then gave us a paper that had name circle on it as an issue and we had to go in this office with an ISO officer for review to be approved for her name changing.  Then finally we were able to proceed to do her biometrics.

weird, if the staff either needs to report that issue to USCIS to add MC to the letter .  This is what gets me, if you the same issue over and over again, they should inform USCIS to add to the letter to be on the safe side. they didnt' ask us probably because he's a male, no name change.  Our issue was, my husband was born in Lebanon but his citizenship is Palestine, the lady couldn't find Palestine on the list, she went around and asked all the staff what to put there, one of them said Jordan😆 completely different country. I can't believe these people have no clue about their geography. they are clueless.

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a happy Christmas.

I have my biometrics appointment at the ASC in Seattle on Monday (Dec 31st).

Do you confirm me that the ASC are open and not affected by the government shut down (if it is still on)?

Thank you

Hi everyone!

We filled for AOS, AP and EAD on December 17, we already have NOA's. I was wondering if there's an estimate of how long it will take for them to give me an appointment for biometrics? and if this will come by mail or would they also update it on their website?

They're open because USCIS is funded by our application fees. I had my biometrics appointment yesterday and everything is working as usual.

Your biometrics appt usually takes place within one month of your PD. You can expect a hardcopy of the appt notice in the mail anytime between that.
