Hello everyone,

I have a question about SSN. I went to the SSA office December 7th, more than 2 weeks after my entry (November 21st). Although, the lady just said they needed to verify my information and she said it would take 4-6 weeks. Now I am afraid that they will deny my SSN because for the time they verify information and decide to mail me my SSN, my I-94 will expire. Is there anything I can do now?

Also, Today I received the hard copy of my NOA1. Yay. Now I just hope that my Biometrics Appointment is after Christmas.

Is the NOA1 date the Notice Date or the Received Date?

AoS package sent: 12/06

Texts: 12/12

NOA1 hard-copy: 12/18

Thank you.

Have a nice day and Happy holidays :)

I don’t think your I94 will expire by then. It will take 2-3 weeks. So don’t worry.

I came in USA on 9th October and went to the SSA on 24th October. My SSN card came on 5th November, but it wasn’t delivered to me because I wasn’t on the lease and didn’t register with USPS at that time. So I went back to SSA on 26th November just to make sure I am not coming in too early and the lady there told me my SSN was issued but had to reorder my SSN because it was returned the first time. She was a little reticent about doing it ( she gave me my SSN number though) because she said I am getting really close to the date of my I94 expiry(January 6th 2019), BUT yesterday I got my SSN card(it s the number the lady at the SSA gave me)in the mail with my other 3 NOA1s.😊

I tried to call again, but its always a robot. I can not even to get to the real person on the phone. If i choose status of my case i somehow supposed to give them my receipt number, but how do i do that.. ?? If there is no real person. its terrible, I am so unfamiliar with such a long robot answers. And i can not make a e-request online, because there no such form as I-797C to correct.

You use the numbers of your phone keypad (1 is a,b, or c...2 is d,e or f). MSC would be 672 and then your 10 digit number for the rest of the receipt number.

So when you went they told you the SSN will come in the mail in 2 weeks?

Because I think our situation is different. The lady told me they need to verify my information first (and that will take 4-6 weeks) and I will receive a letter saying they verified them and only after that I have to wait 2 weeks to receive the SSN by mail.

I believe I was not in the system yet (?).

Do I need the lease on my name or be registered with USPS to receive mail from SS? Because I gave my address at the SSA office.

By register with USPS you mean informed delivery?

I am glad we have same dates and local office :)

Call the USCIS number and press 1 then 2 three times (1-2-2-2) It should put you in line to speak to a real person ;)

I am glad we have same dates and local office :)

The first time I went to SSA, they told me there is some info they need to check because some data didn’t match. The guy there said normally it will take 4 weeks, but it took two weeks. Second time I went, they sent me a letter first(I got it on 11th December) telling me that the card is coming and Monday the card came in the mail.

I don’t know if you need to show up on the lease. Our mailman has to come inside the apartment building and security let’s them in. My building management only takes in mail from people that live in the building, letters addressed to people not showing on the lease system is sent back.

Regarding USPS, even the first gentleman at SSA told me I need to register with them at the post office that I live at my husband’s place. I did it online,  but I had to wait for a code to be sent so I can prove I am living there. I would advise to go at any post office with ID and marriage licence, if you changed your name after marriage and if you applied for SSN in your married name(I applied before I got married, therefore, I had to register at USPS with my maiden name for now and put my AOS package in name of my husband, because my SSN was coming under my maiden name).

Hey, thank you for the tip of this SAVE case check.

It just says "Case returned to Agency" and under description says "SAVE has returned your case to Maryland - Social Security Administration, SSA (Single Signon)". I guess Maryland is the HQ of the SSA, because I didn't apply in Maryland. Just still don't know what it means. I guess I should just wait. Not even 2 weeks have passed.
